Nuclear Power Is Not Safe
Green energy needs to be non-polluting and safe; these are hardly
words that can be used to describe nuclear energy.
We believe that
• any waste product from a non-polluting and safe energy source
should not have to be shielded from humans and our environment
for hundreds of millennia
• transportation of waste products from green sources of energy
should not put thousands of people in harms way
• storage of waste products from safe energy sources should not be
vulnerable to attacks from terrorists
• safe energy sources should not be terrorist targets that could lead
to thousands of deaths and devastate hundreds of acres
• any green energy source should not potentially be the
contributing factor to the proliferation of nuclear weapons
• government regulations which allow permissible levels of
corrosive chemicals and radioactive materials to be released into
our air, water and soil does not mean non-polluting or safe
• any energy source which requires a 50 mile emergency panning
zone cannot be classified as safe because of either human error or
accident
• the strategic outcomes of green energy sources should contain the
following:
o No acute radiation exposures resulting in fatalities.
o No releases of radioactive materials that result in significant
radiation exposures.
o No releases of radioactive materials that cause significant
adverse environmental impact
