MaxWell Biosystems is an electronics-focused biotech company based in Basel, Switzerland, developing and
selling advanced cell imaging platforms helping our customers in the pharmaceutical industry and in academia
to make their drug discovery and research more efficient. We are a young ETH Spin-off company, seeking highly

Software Engineer C++
Our technology, which consists of a custom designed integrated circuit, an FPGA-based data acquisition platform and our software suite MaxLab Live, generates vast amounts of data when electrically imaging neuronal
tissue. Such data needs to be processed, analyzed and visualized online during operation. At the same time, our
customers in drug discovery and neuroscience want to focus entirely on their pharmaceutical and scientific
questions, which requires to abstract and hide most of the technical complexity, while still providing sufficient
flexibility to adapt the application to specific needs. Our platform has been in academic collaborations by many
laboratories around the world. We are now commercializing this technology and take our software suite MaxLab
Live to the next level. For this, we are seeking a highly motivated software engineer to drive and implement this
challenging task.
Your Responsibilities
• Develop and support our performance critical data acquisition and analysis software platform
• Design and implement software APIs, and work with application scientists to optimize software interfaces
• Since we are a very young startup, we also expect active participation and lead in general software and IT
infrastructure aspects
• Work in a multidisciplinary environment, learn about and understand customer needs
Your Profile

Master or bachelor degree in computer science, electrical engineering, physics or a comparable education
Strong programming skills in C++, familiarity with C++11, knowledge in Python and Matlab is a plus
Experience in UI/UX design with OpenGL and Qt is a plus
Knowledge in Linux OS and scripting
Experience in signal processing and visualizing complex datasets is a plus
Good English language skills
Knowledge in hardware, electronics and embedded is a plus, especially in USB devices
Interest in the field of neuroscience and biotechnology
