_______________
Paul Dyckstra, piano
Classically trained from a young age, and trained at the University of Alberta under Helmut
Brauss (a protégé of Edwin Fischer and Elly Ney), Paul has performed the Bach D Minor and
Beethoven G Major Concertos with Canadian orchestras. He has worked with major artists and
pedagogues including Anton Kuerti, Gyorgy Sebok, and Zoltan Szekely at the Banff School and
Shawnigan Lake Summer School of the Arts. A winner of many awards and scholarships in his
native Canada, he has also been on the Board of Examiners for the Western Board of Music and
Conservatory Canada. Since emigrating to the US in 1999, Paul has completed major projects
including world premiere recordings and performances of contemporary music with clarinetist
Richard Stoltzman, a full length CD of classical, romantic, and contemporary piano repertoire,
and the Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra of NH composer Roger Rudenstein's Blues for New
Orleans. His most recent CD, An Ivory Winter, features “great classical piano music for your
inner season,” with masterpieces by Chopin, Beethoven, Bach, Mozart and Roger Rudenstein.
Paul is on the Faculty of the Concord Community Music School.
Beth Pearson, cello
Beth Pearson began her professional life as a founding member of the Apple Hill Chamber
Players, and has performed close to two thousand chamber music concerts throughout the United
States. She has given solo recitals at Lincoln Center, the Gardner Museum, the Longy School,
and Harvard and Smith Colleges. Beth has appeared as soloist with the Brockton Symphony, the
Merrimac Valley Philharmonic, The New England String Ensemble, the Boston Lawyers
Orchestra at the Esplanade, the Nashua Chamber Orchestra, and the Cambridge and Brookline
Symphonies. An Oberlin Conservatory graduate, Beth studied with George Neikrug and Richard
Kapuscinski. Beth combines freelance playing, solo and chamber music, and teaching; she has
40 years' experience teaching cello and coaching chamber music. Beth has recorded for Sine Qua
Non, Opus One, and Sonora labels.
John Page, conductor
Irish conductor, John Page, began his career with the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland,
as a winner of the Dublin Conducting Masterclasses. Prior to this he studied at King's College
London, University College Dublin, Trinity College Dublin, and Harvard University. In 2006,
Mr Page was appointed to the Faculty of New England Conservatory as Resident Conductor and
Music Director of the NEC Sinfonietta and in 2009 the NEC Symphony. Highlights include
collaboration with Maxim Shostakovich in a performance of his father's Ninth Symphony, a gala
performance of Stravinsky's 1919 Firebird Suite in conjunction with the Boston Ballet and
directing the Boston premiere of Gunther Schuller’s Five Etudes for Orchestra. More recently,
John was Director of Large Ensembles for the New York City based Mimesis Ensemble, a group
dedicated to the performance of music by living composers. He was also engaged as cover
conductor for the Portland Symphony Orchestra, Maine, and travelled home to his native
Northern Ireland to conduct the BBC Ulster Orchestra. Last year, John was invited to join the
Faculty of Boston University as a Visiting Associate Professor and will be Acting Director of
Orchestras this Spring. Earlier this year he performed with the Portsmouth Symphony Orchestra
and continued his relationship with the Portland Symphony Orchestra as cover conductor. As a
recording artist, he returns to Ireland frequently to record with the Irish Film Orchestra; among
his most recent recordings is the platinum disc winning PBS show, Celtic Woman.
