SURFACE PREPARATION:
The surface must be clean and free of all surface contamination. A chemical pretreatment such as PPG Chemfos®
KA Cleaner/Coater will improve the performance properties of the coating system over CRS. For even better
performance, a 5-stage pretreatment including the Chemkleen 163 cleaner, Chemfos 158 iron phosphate
conversion coating and Chemseal 19 sealer would vastly improve the corrosion resistance of this primer. See your
PPG Representative for a more detailed pretreatment recommendation. For HRS, a near white blast cleaning
conforming to SSPC SP-10 is preferred. The blast profile should not exceed 20-25% of the total dry film thickness.
