Teaching notes
Use as
 a discussion tool. What is a homophone? Gather suggestions on whiteboard or flip
chart before handing out sheet.
 a check list. Students look through and tick off the ones they are confident with
 for prompting sentence construction (the ‘meaning’ column can be used to put each
homophone into a complete sentence)
 dictionary work (look up word if needed, then write the definition in the ‘meaning’
column)
Tip
 don’t use all three pages at once – especially with dyslexic students
Extension
 using blank chart students (in pairs) list further homophones (if computers are
available this could involve a web search).
