The IADR is an international dental research organization. It is a non-profit organization
with nearly 11,000 members worldwide in academia, industry, government and other
research institutes worldwide. IADR provides a unique opportunity to network with dental
researchers worldwide in the field of dental research. It is large, but friendly with plenty of
opportunity for establishing new collaborations and catching up with colleges from all over
the world. There is a good mix of research presentation and keynote speeches.
The conference holds every year. For 2015 it was held in Boston, MA., USA in March with
huge attendance all over the world. I was fortunate to be selected to present part of my project
in the conference. The title of my project is (Development of a new fluoride releasing acrylic
orthodontic adhesives). The travel grand award allowed me to attend the conference and
present part of my PhD study as a poster in the conference. I have received positive feedback
from audience. Also it was a fantastic opportunity to meet and talk with other researchers in
my area of research. In particular discussing recent findings and challenges. In addition it was
good chance to build personal connection with other researchers and fellow PhD students for
future collaboration.
During the four days program I have attended several lectures, symposium/workshops and
training courses that relevant to my research area. This included but not limited to the
following:
IADR Academy Boston 2015: 21st Century Tools for Dental Research
Polymer-based Materials-Chemistry and Composites I
Adhesion to Composite Materials
Evaluating Photopolymerization Efficiency: Methods & Their Limitations
Polymer-based Materials-Chemistry and Composites IV
Finally I would like to express my sincere appreciation to my supervisors Dr Rolland and Dr
German for supporting me to attend this conference and the Faculty of Medical Science for
awarding me this travel grant which allowed me to travel and attend the conference.
