CubanMissileCrisis 15Oct1962 TheCubanMissileCrisiswastheclosesttheworldevercametonuclearwar.TheUnitedStates armedforceswereattheirhigheststateofreadinesseverandSovietfieldcommandersinCuba werepreparedtousebattlefieldnuclearweaponstodefendtheislandifitwasinvaded.Luckily, thankstothebraveryoftwomen,PresidentJohnF.KennedyandPremierNikitaKhrushchev, warwasaverted. FalloftheBerlinWall 9Nov1989 hefalloftheBerlinWallhappenednearlyassuddenlyasitsrise.Therehadbeensignsthatthe Communistblocwasweakening,buttheEastGermanCommunistleadersinsistedthatEast Germanyjustneededamoderatechangeratherthanadrasticrevolution.EastGermancitizens didnotagree.
