Fight for Sight - Job Description Job Title: Database Officer Salary: £25-28,000 Reporting to: Individual Giving Manager Pension: 10% non-contributory Contract type: Permanent, full time (35 hours per week) Holiday: 25 days p/a + Bank Holidays Key relationships: All members of the fundraising team, plus the finance department. Job purpose Using the Raisers Edge database, the Database Officer supports the above teams by inputting data, designing and running data queries, reports and analysis, enabling them to effectively communicate fundraising messages to Fight for Sight audiences. This is primarily done through warm and cold mail, telemarketing, events and new media. The Database Officer is also responsible for ensuring all donations, gifts and supporter queries are thanked and processed in a timely and effective manner. Role and responsibilities Process voluntary donations received by Fight for Sight in a timely and appropriate manner. This will include inputting gift information on to Raisers Edge. Ensure smooth running systems for processing mail and a standardised thanking process. Designing and carrying out segmented data queries in support of a variety of fundraising initiatives. Manipulating this data through imports and exports. Work with finance to produce monthly reconciliation reports. Updating records and maintaining the accuracy of the database, while upholding high levels of security and confidentiality. Responsible for providing accurate financial and statistical queries and reports for analysis and evaluation. Support fundraisers with administration support, where appropriate. Ensure all Fight for Sight’s campaigns and data are compliant with current Data Protection regulations Provide training and support to ensure Raisers Edge is used consistently across the organisation. Working with teams outside of the fundraising team (such as finance), in order to provide best levels of supporter care to our supporters. Making sure all Gift Aid declarations are collected and recorded correctly and compile monthly Gift Aid claims to be submitted by finance. Other Participate in regular supervision and annual appraisal and be committed to own professional development. Participate in internal / external meetings as required and attend training events, conferences and other functions as necessary. Ensure that Fight for Sight’s policies and procedures are adhered to and work is carried out in accordance with Fight for Sight’s aims, values and ethos. From time to time, be available to help out with Fight for Sight events which might take place outside of normal office hours. Other duties as may be reasonably required by the Individual Giving Manager and Head of Fundraising, on either a short or long term basis. Person specification Experience Ability to analyse and segment data using a fundraising database, preferably the Raiser’s Edge. Experience inputting and exporting large amounts of data into a databases, both manually and using import / export files. Experience of working in direct marketing environment, ideally within a charity. Proven experience of working in a target and results-driven environment. Skills Experience of using a charity database at an advanced level Exceptional IT skills Ability to work under pressure and prioritise in a busy environment Highly organised, with a flair for detail and systems Ability to work as part of a small dynamic team Passion for supporting Fight for Sights aims and objectives
