Water Cycle: Movement of water between the oceans, atmosphere, living things and
land.
Condensation: change of state from a gas to a liquid
Evaporation: change of state from a liquid to a gas
Precipitation: any form of water that falls to the Earth’s surface from the clouds
Transpiration: the loss of water vapors from the leaves of plants
Nitrogen Cycle: Movement of nitrogen between the environment and living things. *
Nitrogen is important for building proteins and DNA in living things.
Carbon-Oxygen Cycle: Exchange of carbon and oxygen between living things and the
environment.
Photosynthesis: process in which plants use carbon dioxide and water to make sugar
(glucose) and oxygen
Respiration (Cellular Respiration): process in which living cells use oxygen break down
sugars to release energy, carbon dioxide and water.
