1. alphabetize all of the words
2. divide each word into syllables
3. write the words in cursive
4. make a set of flash cards & have your partner quiz you
5. use the words in poems such as acrostic poems (you can write more than one, use all of the words)

Sort by parts of speech (nouns, verbs, adjectives)
Number of letters in the words or by consonant or vowels
7. type each word three times (you could use different colors, upper or lower case letters)
8. look the words up in a dictionary and define them
9. write each words and look them up in a dictionary, write down what part of speech each is
10. with a partner take turns giving each other a spelling test
11. scramble the words and give them to a partner to figure out
12. write a letter to a friend using at least 10 spelling words
13. silly sentences- use your words in silly sentences, you can use more than one word in a sentence & underline them
14. picture words – draw a picture and write your words in the picture
15. story words- write a story using all of your words
16. word search – make a word search with a friend, trade and solve each others
17. ransom words – use a newspaper to cut out the letters of your words, glue them on another sheet
18. reversed words – write in alphabetical order, from z to a
19. rainbow words – write your words in three colors
20. be creative - create your own spelling activity
21. magazine words- find your spelling words in a magazine and cut them out
22. x words – write two words that have common letters and criss-cross them, try to connect all of them
23. other hand – use your opposite hand to write your spelling words
24. choo-choo words – write your words end to end using a different color for each one
25. newspaper words – find your words in the newspaper and circle or highlight them
26. 30 second words – write a TV commercial using all of your spelling words
27. backwards words – first write your words forwards, then write them backwards
28. blue vowels- Write each of your spelling words. Using a blue colored pencil, trace over the vowels in each word.
29. bubble letters- Write each of your spelling words in bubble letters, if there’s time color them in
30. consonant highlight– write your words and go back and highlight the consonants
31. hidden words – draw a picture and hide your spelling words in it
32. match up – write your words on two different index cards, lay them face down, like the game concentration
33. pyramid words – write your words in a pyramid shape, start with the first letter, on the next line write the next two
letters, then the letters on the third line…
34. rhyming words – write your spelling word and next to it write a word that rhymes, it could be a nonsense word
35. super sentences – use each of your words in a sentence, you can use more than one in a sentence
36. fraction words -write your spelling words as fractions, based on the number of vowels and consonants
