Physicality & Movement: A unit of work that focusses on building skills in creating meaningful character physicality and movement when devising and performing drama. Voice: A unit of work that focusses on using voice meaningfully in performance. Both naturalistic and non-naturalistic vocal devices are explored. Physical Theatre: A unit of work that explores the basics of physical theatre through exploring how to use the body as a prop. Darkwood Manor: A unit of work based around the theme of a haunted house. This unit of work explores how to create tension and atmosphere through physicality and voice as well as stage semiotics such as lighting and sound. Shakespeare: A unit of work that introduces students to the work of Shakespeare whilst developing performance skills in character status and character creation. History of Theatre: A unit of work that looks back at Drama from various periods in history and how this has impacted the theatre of the 21st Century. Stage Combat: A unit of work that teaches students how to safely and effectively choreograph stage combat in performance. The Semiotics of Drama: A unit of work that explores what is meant by the term ‘semiotics’ and how staging, lighting, sound and costume can be used to create multi-layers of meaning in performance. Story Telling: A unit of work that explores narrative and the various ways in which a performance can be structured and narration techniques can be used to tell a story. Trestle Masks: A unit of work that teaches students the basics of using masks effectively in performance. Devising Drama: A unit of work that develops skills in devising meaningful drama using a range of stimuli and a variety of performance styles. Icebreaker – Performance Basics: A unit of work that builds positive working relationships, develops the knowledge gained at KS3 and progresses student skills in the basic drama skills and techniques. Revolting Rhymes – Lights, Camera, Action: A unit of work that uses Roald Dahl’s Revolting Rhymes as stimuli. In this unit of work students will gain an understanding of the semiotics of drama as well as develop skills in script writing and the roles of designer and director. Intro to Key Drama Concepts: A unit of work that introduces students to the essential drama concepts as well as the roles of performer, director, designer and deviser, which form the basis of the OCR Drama GCSE. DNA: A unit of work that develops and refines skills in naturalistic character creation whilst exploring the play DNA by Dennis Kelly. Metamorphosis: A unit of work that develops and refines skills in non-naturalistic drama devices whilst exploring the play Metamorphosis by Steven Berkoff. An Introduction to OCR GCSE Drama: A unit of work that introduces students to the six ‘Areas of Study’ and the roles of performer, director, designer and deviser that form the basis of the OCR Drama GCSE. ‘Blood Brothers’ Mock 03/04 Presenting and performing texts Unit of Work: A unit of work based Year 10 Spring Year 10 Summer on the play ‘Blood Brothers’ by Willy Russell that provides students with a chance to hone their performance and written skills in preparation for the 03/04 performance examination unit. ‘Street Gang’ Mock 01/02 Devising drama Unit of Work: A stimulus based unit of work that provides students with a chance to hone their devising and written skills in preparation for the 01/02 coursework examination unit that is to be completed in the Summer term. Devising drama 01/02 Examination Unit: A stimulus paper will be provided by OCR where students will be required to devise a final performance for assessment and create a supporting written portfolio of evidence. Students can take on the role of performer or designer and will be assessed internally. This unit forms Year 11 Autumn Year 11 Spring Year 11 Summer ‘Street Gang’ Mock A582 Drama in the Making Unit of Work: A stimulus based unit of work that provides students with a chance to hone their performance and written skills in preparation for the A582 coursework examination unit that is to be completed in Year 11. ‘Conflict’ A582 Drama in the Making Unit of Work: A stimulus based unit of work where students are required to develop 3 ‘items’ for examination, accompanied by a written working record. This unit is internally assessed and forms 30% of the overall GCSE mark awarded. ‘The Mouse and his Child’/ ‘The Journey Begins’ Mock A583 Concept to Creation Unit of Work: A stimulus based unit of work that looks at both a script and a picture in the process of devising drama for a visiting examiner. Concept to Creation A583 Examination Unit: This unit is externally assessed by the OCR exam board. The Unit comprises of a written working record and performance examination to a visiting examiner.
