AP World History Summer Assignment 2016-2017 Welcome to AP World History! Your summer assignment has THREE parts: 1) World Regions Map 2) Comparative Writing Samples 3) Preview of 8000 BCE through 600 BCE In order to start AP World successfully, all three parts must be completed thoroughly. Instructions: Part 1—The World Regions Map A working knowledge of world geography is crucial to success in AP World History. Students are expected to know world regions, nations, water and land forms. Using the attached AP World Regions map and chart identify 3 MAJOR countries within each region. Complete the chart, which will be due on the first day of school. Be prepared for a quiz on the content of the map and chart during the first week of school A) Identify IMPORTANT countries from each region listed below. For example: Choose Great Britain, Russia, and Germany as countries for Europe. Don’t choose Lichtenstein, Moldova, and Andorra. Use the included AP Regions map to determine the boundaries of the regions. B) Locate the bodies of water indicated in section B of this document. Identify at least three IMPORTANT countries which relate to the body of water. C) There will be a quiz during the first week of school which will require you to know the geographic regions, water regions, and the countries related to each. You will need to have the 2017 edition to be prepared for the new exam format, and the 2017 revision will not be released until that date.
