Create Your Own Myth
From a monster that is half man and half bull, to two lovers who become intertwined trees, you
have read several exciting examples of Greek myths! Now it is your turn to create one. Remember that
myths serve several purposes:
● to honor a person or a place
● to explain natural phenomena (like the sun moving across the sky or the creation of the world)
● to teach morals and proper behavior (often through the stories of heroes and monsters)
Here are the guidelines for your myth:
1. Your story should have a clear purpose. (Choose one from above)
2. Your story must involve at least two Olympian gods or goddesses. It may contain other gods or
goddesses as well.
3. Your story should clearly show that you know something about Greek mythology. You will do
this by including details their powers, symbols, personalities about the Olympian gods and
goddesses.
4. Your story should be at least 350 words.
