OTHER FAITHS AND RELIGIONS INFORMATION
It is important to always teach another faith, Judaism because of our close common spiritual
heritage. The other religions may be chosen from Hinduism, Islam or Sikhism, depending on
which is the most common community in the locality. Where there is no other religion present,
it is recommended that the school teaches Islam.
It is recommended that other religions be taught for two weeks out of the Religious Education
allocation, ensuring that Judaism is taught in one of the weeks. Further study could be developed
across the curriculum.
Judaism and another religion can be taught at any time in the school year as individual schools
can then plan quality time and make possible links to other areas of the curriculum.
For further information on the process and principles of teaching Judaism as another faith and
other religions, please refer to pages 40-43 in the Come and See Religious Education Programme.
