apartments available for short-time hiring. Several of our former visitors coming from
abroad, report that, as an example, http://www.aibnb.com is a well-organized site

Current transportation situation
Tickets
Single combination tickets cost 1.40 EUR. One can use these tickets for 70 min on any
type of Athens transportation (i.e. Metro, bus, trolley bus or tram).
Metro tickets from and to Athens airport have an increased cost: Single: 8 EUR, Group
of two: 14 EUR, Group of three: 20 EUR. These special Airport tickets can be also used
within the city as combination tickets within 70 min of the ticket validation.
It is advisable, to use the “Metro” instead of the "Suburban rail" to reach Athens.
Bus tickets from and to Athens airport have an increased cost: 5 EUR. However, unless
it cannot be helped otherwise, it is advisable to use the train system for connection to
the airport.
All tickets are to be bought mostly at Metro stations from vending machines or manned
booths -when open. Tickets cannot be bought from the bus drivers.
There exists a free smart phone App both for iOS and Android by the name of "TfA
tickets" (i.e. Transport for Athens tickets). Using this App one can buy on-line any
ticket for the Athens transportation system, as described above, using a credit or a
cash card. To use a bought ticket, one has to validate it using her/his smart phone
before entering the system. For the ticket validation, the smart phone does not need to
be connected to the internet. ATTENTION: tickets bought and kept within this kind of
smart phone portfolio can be used only within three months from their date of
purchase.

Insurance
The course organizers would like to stress that there is no specific insurance plan to
cover for accidents or other health problems during the course participants stay in
GREECE. Therefore, and since most eligible applicants seem to have already a health
insurance plan being residents within the European Union, the course organizers would
kindly ask everybody to issue a European Health Insurance Card valid for the period of
their stay in GREECE. Please check at:

Or contact your local relevant insurance office.
