30 Oct 2016 Evangel Christian Fellowship Grace… A Beautiful and Divine Exchange Part Two 2 Cor 12:9 "And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness. Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong." Evangel Christian Fellowship Grace: A Beautiful and Divine Exchange Definitions: a. Unmerited favour b. Great Riches at Christ's expense c. The desire and the power to do God's will. It's all of the above! John 1:16 (AMP) For out of His fullness [the superabundance of His grace and truth] we have all received Grace upon Grace [spiritual blessing upon spiritual blessing, favor upon favor, and gift heaped upon gift]. Evangel Christian Fellowship What does Divine Exchange look like? Isa 61:1-3 “The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me, Because the Lord has anointed Me 1. To preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me 2. To heal the broken-hearted, 3. To proclaim liberty to the captives, And the opening of the prison to those who are bound; 4. To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, And the day of vengeance of our God; 5. To comfort all who mourn, 6. To console those who mourn in Zion, 7. To give them beauty for ashes, The oil of joy for mourning, The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; That they may be called trees of righteousness, The planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.” Evangel Christian Fellowship So why Grace? To Progress! 1. Grace is for Salvation 2. Grace is for Assignment 3. Grace is for Reigning Evangel Christian Fellowship 1. Grace is for salvation Titus 2:11-14 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works. Eph 2:8-9 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. Evangel Christian Fellowship 2. Grace is for the assignment Eph 2:1-10 (AMP) And you [He made alive when you] were [spiritually] dead and separated from Him because of your transgressions and sins, in which you once walked. You were following the ways of this world [influenced by this present age], in accordance with the prince of the power of the air (Satan), the spirit who is now at work in the disobedient [the unbelieving, who fight against the purposes of God]. Evangel Christian Fellowship 2. Grace is for the assignment Eph 2:1-10 (AMP) Among these [unbelievers] we all once lived in the passions of our flesh [our behavior governed by the sinful self], indulging the desires of human nature [without the Holy Spirit] and [the impulses] of the [sinful] mind. We were, by nature, children [under the sentence] of [God’s] wrath, just like the rest [of mankind]. But God, being [so very] rich in mercy, because of His great and wonderful love with which He loved us, even when we were [spiritually] dead and separated from Him because of our sins, He made us [spiritually] alive together with Christ (for by His grace—His undeserved favor and mercy—you have been saved from God’s judgment). Evangel Christian Fellowship 2. Grace is for the assignment Eph 2:1-10 (AMP) And 1. He raised us up together with Him [when we believed], And 2. Seated us with Him in the heavenly places, [because we are] in Christ Jesus, [and He did this] so that in the ages to come He might [clearly] show the immeasurable and unsurpassed riches of His grace in [His] kindness toward us in Christ Jesus [by providing for our redemption]. Evangel Christian Fellowship 2. Grace is for the assignment Eph 2:1-10 (AMP) For it is by grace [God’s remarkable compassion and favor drawing you to Christ] that you have been saved [actually delivered from judgment and given eternal life] through faith. And this [salvation] is not of yourselves [not through your own effort], but it is the [undeserved, gracious] gift of God; not as a result of [your] works [nor your attempts to keep the Law], so that no one will [be able to] boast or take credit in any way [for his salvation]. Evangel Christian Fellowship 2. Grace is for the assignment Eph 2:1-10 (AMP) For we are His workmanship [His own master work, a work of art], created in Christ Jesus [reborn from above—spiritually transformed, renewed, ready to be used] for good works, which God prepared [for us] beforehand [taking paths which He set], so that we would walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us]. Evangel Christian Fellowship 3. Grace is for reigning Romans 5:20-21 Moreover the law entered that the offense might abound. But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more, so that as sin reigned in death, even so grace might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6:1,14,15 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace. What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? Certainly not! Rom 12:21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. Evangel Christian Fellowship What will our response be?
