Weak Analogy
• Weak analogy is also knowns as:
(also known as: bad analogy, false analogy, faulty
analogy, questionable analogy, argument from spurious
similarity, false metaphor)
When an analogy is used to prove or disprove an
argument, but the analogy is too dissimilar to be
effective. It is unlike the argument more than it is like the
argument.
What is a weak analogy?
• The fallacy known as Weak Analogy
(sometimes called False Analogy) is a weak
argument based on debatable or unimportant
similarities between two or more things.
• Example:
My mom is just like Adolf Hitler. I doubt she will
let me go out with you guys.
