To complete advancement requirements, you must meet the standards described below. Failure to meet these standards may result in removal from office. General Leadership Responsibilities Training: You must attend the troop Scout Leader Training even if you have attended in the past. Attendance: Set the example by being on-time for meetings and activities. You are expected to attend 75% of all troop meetings, Scout Leadership Team meetings, outings, and service projects. You must tell the SPL and Scoutmaster if you are not going to be at a meeting or if you suddenly have to miss an outing. Uniform: Set the example by wearing your uniform correctly. This means that you wear all of the parts of the troop uniform, shirttail tucked in, with all required badges in their correct locations. Behavior: Set the example by living the Scout Oath and Law in your everyday life. Show Scout Spirit in everything you say and do. Position Specific Responsibilities Senior Patrol Leader • Assists the Scoutmaster in conducting troop leadership training • Presides over the monthly patrol leaders’ council • Responsible for planning troop meetings • Responsible for making arrangements for troop activities • Responsible for annual program planning conferences Position Specific Qualifications Senior Patrol Leader QUALIFICATIONS Age: Rank: Experience: Attendance: 14 or older 1st Class or higher Previous service in a Leadership position 75% over previous 6 months My Recommended Positions • • • • • • SPL Quartermaster Scribe Chaplain Aide Bugler Order of the Arrow Representative Quartermaster • Responsible for coordinating the Game at the weekly meetings • Use equipment lists collected from patrol leaders to compile a master equipment list for outings • Inventory equipment at the start of outings to ensure completeness • Inventory equipment at the end of outings to assist in loss prevention • Recommend changes to the troop supply store. (at least one per term) Scribe • Records Troop Meeting plans made at Scout Leadership Team meetings • Records individual Scout attendance/uniform results and provides the log to the Scoutmaster each month • Records dues payments and provides to the Troop Treasurer Chaplain Aide Highlights Duty to God Requirements • Leads Troop Prayers at meetings, COHs and other venues • Makes a Religious Emblem Presentation during the term • Youth coordinator for Scout Sabbath/Sunday and 12 Point Bike Rides • Liaison for all religious emblem recognition ceremonies Bugler Highlights Duty to Country Requirements • Supervises flag storage and preparation • Responsible for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies • Teaches flag ceremony and flag etiquette • Monthly inspects troop flags for serviceability and cleanliness • Collects and ensures preparation of unserviceable flags for retirement Order of the Arrow Representative Highlights Service Projects • Responsible for coordinating Troop service projects (minimum Three per term) • Record adult and scout service hours into the national Journey to Excellence service project website • Liaison between OA lodge and the troop attending 75% of OA Meetings and Events. • Encourages Arrowmen to seal their membership in the Order by becoming Brotherhood members.
