What do you think of when you hear ‘Networking’ or ‘Sales’? • My precious TIME is being wasted. • It won’t help us make our numbers. • I need to get some ‘real work’ done. DEFINITION: Network, Networking (1) connect as or operate with a network. "the stock exchanges have proven to be resourceful in networking these deals" (2) link (machines, especially computers) to operate interactively. "networked workstations" (3) interact with other people to exchange information and develop contacts, especially to further one's career. "the skills of networking, bargaining, and negotiation” MENTIONS OF THE WORD ‘NETWORKING’ OVER TIME What ARE Supply Chain and Operations? • Typical View: Task Oriented NOT People Oriented Supply Chain / Operations Professionals need ‘Relationships’ more than ever. WHY? • Sophistication, Location, Concentrated Expertise, GAPS BUT ‘People’ Dependent Processes Always BREAK, Right?
