• Information governance, or IG, is an emerging term used to
encompass the set of multi-disciplinary structures, policies,
procedures, processes and controls implemented to manage
information at an enterprise level, supporting an organization's
immediate and future regulatory, legal, risk, environmental and
operational requirements.
• eRecords and Information Governance, leaving the paper paradigm
behind
– Different industries are starting to adopt Information Governance as a
program that encompasses RM, Business, Legal, Security, IT and
others.
– There is a shift in the role of “Directors of Records Management” to
“Directors of Information Governance”.
– The focus is on the entire lifecycle of information.
– RM is best positioned to place value on information over time in
support of information governance.
