THE RUNNING OF THE BULLS

General George B. McClellan Trained an Army of 100,000 Soldiers and Moved to attack
Richmond Virginia, but failed to take the Direct Route

With McClellan ready to attack Richmond Robert E. Lee took control of the Southern Army
and attacked Union troops forcing them to retreat from Richmond

Abraham Lincoln Ordered a Direct Attack of Richmond and General John Pope Faced off
against Stonewall Jackson in the Second Battle of Bull Run

Robert E. Lee and Stonewall Jackson would destroy Union Troops forcing them to retreat,
causing Robert E. Lee to Plan an attack on the North
THE BATTLE OF BULL RUN…THE SEQUEL

Robert E. Lee Split his troops up and Attacked the North where Stonewall Jackson would
capture Harper’s Ferry While Lee tried to Convince Maryland to join the South

Lee’s Plans for the north would be found by McClellan but he would not attack, allowing
Jackson and Lee to Reunite at the Battle of Antietam

12,000 Union Soldiers would be killed along with 13,000 Confederate Soldiers making the
battle more deadly than the Revolutionary war, the War of 1812, and the Mexican-American
War Combined

McClellan would Not Follow Lee’s Troops back down south, angering Lincoln, but still
ending Lee’s campaign in the North
IT’S A BLOODY BATTLE

As the North Continued to Blockade Southern Ports, the south used smaller faster

The South began to use Ironclads to fight, and destroy the Northern wooden

After TWO days of Bloody Battle, Southern general A.S. Johnston would be killed along with
10,000 troops from each side, but Grant and the North would win the Battle
IS THIS A NEIL DIAMOND SONG?

As Grant moved his troops down the Mississippi River, David Farragut moved
18 ships and 700 men to capture New Orleans

Farragut tried to quickly sneak his ships past New Orleans Forces and were
met with heavy gunfire from southern Troops even using burning rafts to
burn Farragut’s wooden ships

Farragut would move past the attacks and capture New Orleans, Baton Rouge
Louisiana, and Natchez Mississippi before heading to Vicksburg Mississippi
RAGIN’ CAJUNS

Capturing Vicksburg Mississippi became the top priority for the Union Troops as
it stood 200 feet above the Mississippi River and offered protection for the River

Unable to capture Vicksburg, Grant Surrounded the City to Starve the city and
attack it until they Surrender

People in the City were forced to eat horses, dogs, and rats and with the Threat
of Mutiny the city would surrender

The Fall of Vicksburg marked the beginning of the Northern victory in the west,
and completed the North’s Anaconda Plan
A NEW MEANING FOR DOG FOOD

As the Civil War Moved to the Far West, Union Troops defeated the Confederates in
Colorado and Arizona

The confederates also failed to capture and control Missouri and the
confederates tried to team up with the Cherokee Indians to help defeat the North

Union Forces would defeat the Native American and Confederate troops pushing
them out of Missouri

The Confederates would continue to attack Missouri and Kansas but would never
control the states
