Solving the Problems
Although regarded as our first constitution, the
Articles of Confederation (AoC) proved to be a
flawed document.
Using a copy of the U.S. Constitution, find the
Article, Section, and Clause in the Constitution
where the solution to the problems of the
confederation under the AoC are found.
*I have provided you with the citations in the
Constitution for each problem – all you need to do is
write the solution on how it was fixed in the
Constitution.
Let’s do the first one together. Copy this
format on paper to complete the other 9.
PROBLEM 1:
-Congress lacked control over the national
treasury (problem)
– Article I, Section 8, Clause 1 (citation)
– Congress was given the power to tax, raise and
spend revenue.-Done at the same rate
throughout the country (solution)

• Problem 2 – No National Army

• Problem 3 – Each State has one vote in Congress
