To hold cultural and social record designs.
To transform a way-point into a landmark destination.
Hypothetical reclamation of land to form a man-made island 120 meters off the
coast of Doha, near to Katara Beach
The situation of the site is in Doha’s prestigious West Bay District and looks across
the water to the iconic multi-use development, The Pearl-Qatar.
Main building to be in between the man-made Island site
The area of the island is 300,00m2 or 30 Hectare and the site will be 60,000m2 or
6 Hectare located within the infrastructure of the island
The proposed island will include a rail/road terminal, green space, and sustainable
infrastructure such as a tidal lagoon, solar arrays and other forms of renewable
energy.
A key component of the design brief will be built complying to ‘Zero Carbon’ built
environment, in line with the goals of the Qatar Green Building Council (QGBC)
and in compliance with LEED and the Qatar Sustainability Assessment System
(QSAS)
All project teams should target design in compliance with LEED Gold status.
