Call to Worship
Psalm 95:1-3
Oh come, let us sing to the LORD;
let us make a joyful noise
to the rock of our salvation!
Let us come into his presence
with thanksgiving;
let us make a joyful noise to him
with songs of praise!
For the LORD is a great God,
and a great King above all gods.
Great Is Thy Faithfulness
Text: William M. Runyan • Music: Thomas O. Chisholm
Great is thy faithfulness,
O God my Father;
there is no shadow
of turning with thee;
thou changest not,
thy compassions they fail not;
as thou hast been
thou forever wilt be.
Great is thy faithfulness!
Great is thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning
new mercies I see:
all I have needed
thy hand hath provided,
great is thy faithfulness,
Lord, unto me!
Summer and winter
and springtime and harvest,
sun, moon, and stars
in their courses above,
join with all nature
in manifold witness
to thy great faithfulness,
mercy, and love.
Great is thy faithfulness!
Great is thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning
new mercies I see:
all I have needed
thy hand hath provided,
great is thy faithfulness,
Lord, unto me!
Pardon for sin
and a peace that endureth,
thine own dear presence
to cheer and to guide;
strength for today
and bright hope for tomorrow,
blessings all mine,
with ten-thousand beside!
Great is thy faithfulness!
Great is thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning
new mercies I see:
all I have needed
thy hand hath provided,
great is thy faithfulness,
Lord, unto me!

Prayer of Invocation
Call to Confession of Sin
Isaiah 50:7-9a
The Lord GOD helps me;
therefore I have not been disgraced;
therefore I have set my face
like a flint,
and I know
that I shall not be put to shame.
He who vindicates me is near.
Who will contend with me?
Let us stand up together.
Who is my adversary?
Let him come near to me.
Behold, the Lord GOD helps me;
who will declare me guilty?
Confession of Sin
Lord Jesus, I have sinned times
without number, and been guilty of
pride and unbelief, and of neglect to
seek you in my daily life. My sins and
shortcomings present me with a list of
accusations, but I thank you that they
will not stand against me, for all have
been laid on you.
Deliver me from every evil habit,
every interest of former sins,
everything that dims the brightness of
your grace in me, everything that
prevents me taking delight in you.
Amen.
(Silent confession)
Assurance of Forgiveness
Romans 8:31, 33-34
If God is for us, who can be against
us? … Who shall bring any charge
against God’s elect? It is God who
justifies.
Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is
the one who died—more than that,
who was raised—who is at the right
hand of God, who indeed is
interceding for us.
May the peace of Christ be with you.
And also with you.
Offering
2 Corinthians 9:10-11
He who supplies seed to the sower
and bread for food will supply and
multiply your seed for sowing and
increase the harvest of your
righteousness. You will be enriched in
every way to be generous in every
way, which through us will produce
thanksgiving to God.
The Doxology
Text: Thomas Ken (1674)
Music: “Old 100th” / Genevan Psalter / Louis Bourgeois (1551)
Praise God, from whom all blessings flow;
Praise him, all creatures here below;
Praise him above, ye heav’nly host;
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.
Amen.

Old Testament Reading
1 Samuel 21:1-6
…
The Word of the Lord.
Thanks be to God!
Prayers of the People
The Lord be with you.
And also with you.
Let us pray…
Most gracious God, who has
promised to reveal His glory among
all nations,
Hear us as we pray for Your church.
Bless all the ministers of Your word
and sacraments and unite all
Christians in the bonds of holy faith,
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Lord God of our fathers, who has
promised to take care of our every
need,
Give us peaceful times and fruitful
seasons. Grant all in authority over us
wisdom and strength to do Your will
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Most merciful Father, comfort all who
believe the good news of Your grace.
We pray for all who are distressed:
the poor, the homeless, the sick, the
bereaved, and those afflicted in body
and mind. Comfort and relieve them
according to Your will, through Jesus
Christ our Lord.
And now, as our Savior taught us, let
us humbly pray:
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be Thy name.
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
And forgive us our debts
as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil.
For Thine is the kingdom and the power
and the glory forever. Amen.
There Is A Redeemer
Text & Music: Melody Green
There is a Redeemer,
Jesus, God’s own Son,
precious Lamb of God, Messiah,
Holy One.
Jesus my Redeemer,
name above all names,
precious Lamb of God, Messiah,
O, for sinners slain.
Thank you, O my Father,
for giving us your Son,
and leaving your Spirit
’til the work on earth is done.
When I stand in glory,
I will see his face,
and there I’ll serve my king forever
in that holy place.
Thank you, O my Father,
for giving us your Son,
and leaving your Spirit
’til the work on earth is done.
There is a Redeemer,
Jesus, God’s own Son,
precious Lamb of God, Messiah,
Holy One.
Thank you, O my Father,
for giving us your Son,
and leaving your Spirit
’til the work on earth is done.

The Children’s Song
Text & Music: Josh Garrels
Down on my knees,
praying please,
have mercy now.
Christ is my shelter
in a world
that tries to drag me down.
Open your heart,
open your mind,
open up your soul.
Jesus come in,
and make a broken man whole.
You carry the cross,
carry the pain,
carry the love.
We don’t belong here,
but to the Father above.
Jesus in heaven
and Jesus in hell below,
paid for our sins,
broken body
with the red blood flows.
Rise up in glory,
raise your hands
to the risen King.
He’s God Almighty,
listen to his children:
Alleluia to our King!
Alleluia, Ruler over everything!
In this world you will have trouble.
But Jesus overcame the world.
Our body is his temple,
and we worship forevermore.
Alleluia to our King!
Alleluia, Ruler over everything!

Gospel Reading
Luke 6:1-5
…
The Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Praise be to you, O Christ!
Confession of Faith
The Heidelberg Catechism, Question 60
How are you right with God?
Only by true faith in Jesus Christ.
Even though my conscience accuses
me of having grievously sinned
against all God’s commandments and
of never having kept any of them…
and even though I am still inclined
toward all evil, nevertheless, without
my deserving it at all, out of sheer
grace, God grants and credits to me
the perfect satisfaction,
righteousness, and holiness of Christ,
as if I had never sinned or been a
sinner, as if I had been as perfectly
obedient as Christ was obedient for
me. All I need to do is to accept this
gift with a believing heart. Amen.
Passing of the Peace
Colossians 3:15
Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts,
to which indeed you were called in one body.
And be thankful.
(Greet one another with the words,
“The peace of Christ be with you.”)
Institution of the Lord’s Table
Mysterium Fidei
(The Mystery of Faith)
Let us proclaim the mystery of faith.
Christ has died.
Christ is risen.
Christ will come again!
Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us.
Therefore let us keep the feast.
The gifts of God for the people of God.
Come, Ye Sinners, Poor And Needy
Text: Joseph Hart (1759) • Music: Dana Dirksen
Come, ye sinners, poor and needy,
Weak and wounded, sick and sore;
Jesus ready stands to save you,
Full of pity, love, and pow’r.
Let not conscience make you linger,
Nor of fitness fondly dream;
All that he requires as fitness
Is to know your need of Him.
Come, ye weary, heavy laden,
Lost and ruined by the fall;
If you tarry till you’re better,
You will never come at all.
Come, arise, and go to Jesus,
He will take you in His arms;
In the Love of your dear Savior
You are safe from all alarms.

I Hunger And I Thirst
Text: John S. B. Monsell, Matthew H. Curl
Music: Matthew H. Curl
I hunger and I thirst;
Jesus, my manna be;
ye living waters burst
out of the rock for me.
I hunger and I thirst;
Jesus, my manna be.
Jesus Christ, the Bread of life,
I hunger for you, Lord!
Thou bruised and broken Bread,
my lifelong needs supply;
as living souls are fed,
O feed me or I die.
I hunger and I thirst;
Jesus, my manna be.
Jesus Christ, the Bread of life,
I hunger for you, Lord!
Thou true life-giving Vine,
let me thy sweetness prove;
renew my life with thine,
refresh my soul with love.
I hunger and I thirst;
Jesus, my manna be.
Jesus Christ, the Bread of life,
I hunger for you, Lord!
Rough paths my feet have trod
since first their course began;
feed me, thou Bread of God,
help me, thou Son of Man.
I hunger and I thirst;
Jesus, my manna be.
Jesus Christ, the Bread of life,
I hunger for you, Lord!
For still the desert lies
my thirsting soul before;
O living waters rise
within me evermore.
I hunger and I thirst;
Jesus, my manna be.
Jesus Christ, the Bread of life,
I hunger for you, Lord!
