Skeletal System
 A system made up of bones, ligaments and tendons
and works with the muscular system.
 It also shapes the body and protects organs.
 The skeletal system provides structure and support
DIGESTIVE SYSTEM
 A system of organs that break down food into protein,
vitamins, minerals, carbohydrates, and fats.
 It supplies the body with energy which is used for
growth and repair.
 There are four steps in the digestive system
-Ingestion
-Digestion
-Absorption
-Elimination
Circulatory System
 A system made up of arteries, veins, heart and
capillaries
 This system transports blood, nutrients, and oxygen
throughout the body.
Integumentary System
 A system of skin and appendages that protects the
body from various kinds of damage
 For humans, some of the appendages are nails and hair
 It has a variety of functions which include excreting
wastes and regulating temperature
Nervous System
 A system made up of the brain, the spinal cord, and
nerves that sends, receives, and processes information.
 It is broken up into three parts called the central
nervous system (CNS), the peripheral nervous system
(PNS), and the autonomic nervous system.
Respiratory System
 A system made up of organs that supply the blood with
oxygen in order for the blood to deliver oxygen to all
parts of the body.
 To deliver the oxygen respiration must occur
 Respiration is achieved through the mouth, nose,
trachea, lungs, and diaphragm.
Muscular System
 A system made up of tissues that work with the
skeletal system to control movement of the body.
 It includes skeletal, smooth, and cardiac muscle.
 This system works with the skeletal system to allow
the body to move.
Reproductive System
 A system made up of organs that allow human’s to
reproduce.
 Certain hormones and bodily fluids play a key role in
the reproductive system
Immune System
 A defense system made up of organs, cells, and tissues
 They respond to dangerous organisms and substances
that try to enter the body.
Endocrine System
 A system of glands which secrete different types of
hormones
 The hormones go directly to the bloodstream
Lymphatic System
 Another defense system for the body that filters out
organisms that cause can disease.
 It produces white blood cells, and creates diseasefighting antibodies.
Urinary System
 A system made of organs that eliminate waste from the
body which comes in the form of urine.
 The organs in the urinary system kidneys, ureters,
urinary bladder, and urethra.
