Substance Abuse Counselor
Advancia Aeronautics is seeing qualified candidates to work on site
U.S. Naval Hospital Yokosuka, Japan as a Substance Abuse Counselor. The
Substance Abuse Counselor provides counseling and support to individuals and
families experiencing addictions. This may include confidential individual, family or
group counselling about the causes and effects of addictions support for families
dealing with addictions and/or referrals to treatment for individuals requesting this
opportunity.
Education and Certifications:
Master’s degree or higher in Counseling or Social Work
National Board of Certified Counselors
LCADC or LADC or CADC
Duties:
 Ability to demonstrate sufficient knowledge of understanding in regards to human
behavior and show potential for rehabilitating drug depend patients
 Must have good skills both in verbal and written communication
 Must have sufficient knowledge of the substance abuse population, treatment,
planning and field of human social services to work toward the rehabilitation of
the patient community
 Meeting with clients to evaluate their health and substance problem
 Identifying issues and create goals and treatment plans
 Teaching clients coping mechanisms
 Leading group therapy sessions
 Referring clients to support groups
 Setting up aftercare plans
