Types of Hydropower Plants
The strong global increase in the use of hydropower
for electricity has necessitated the construction of new
hydropower plants. The requirement to promote the
use of alternative and renewable energy production
schemes (wind, photo-voltaic, etc.) has entailed the
construction of pumped storage facilities to level
the fluctuating output of these intermittent power
sources. Due to the great demand for hydropower,
the rehabilitation and expansion of existing plants has
also developed into an important and interesting field
of activity.
