Daily Itinerary
DAY 1: THURSDAY 17th JULY, 2014
DAY 3: SATURDAY 19th JULY, 2014
• Depart International Gateway Airport on a
Traditional house in San José
regularly scheduled flight to San José Juan
Santamaría International Airport.
• Arrive in San José where our full time Quest
Sports Travel CR meets the group to transfer by
private transportation to check in to the Aloft
Hotel for a 2 night stay
• Settle in to the hotel then transfer to a local
facility for practice with your own coaches
• Later, enjoy a Welcome Dinner then relax after
the travel day
• Breakfast at the hotel then check out and travel
north into the Arenal Volcano National Park
• The 29,692-acre Arenal Volcano National Park is

DAY 2: FRIDAY 18th JULY, 2014
• After breakfast take the short journey to visit the
Poás Volcano near San José
Poás Volcano - an active volcano that has
erupted 39 times since 1828!
• There are two crater lakes near the summit.
Laguna Caliente ("Hot Lagoon") is one of the
world's most acidic lakes and consequently it
supports little or no aquatic life. Lake Botos fills
an inactive crater which last erupted in 7500
BC and is cold and clear, and is surrounded by a
cloud forest located within the Poás Volcano
National Park
• This afternoon return to the capital city to prepare
for the tour’s first friendly game against a local
San José area club team
• Dinner at a pre-selected restaurant after the game

located within the larger 504,094-acre Arenal
Conservation Area, which protects some 16
reserves between the Tilarán and Guanacaste
mountain ranges. This area contains a great
wealth of geologic and biological complexity
including Costa Rica’s most active volcano
(Arenal) and Chato Volcano which has been
inactive for nearly 3,500 years and has a collapsed
crater containing a picture-perfect lagoon
• Arrive in La Fortuna and check in to the Arenal
Springs Hotel for a 2 night stay

DAY 4: SUNDAY 20th JULY, 2014
• After breakfast enjoy a magnificent Zipline

Canopy Adventure - discover the tropical rain
forest from platforms positioned high in the trees
• This afternoon transfer to visit the magnificent
Arenal Volcano, one of the world's most regularly
active volcanoes. In 1968, after being dormant for
hundreds of years, the volcano suddenly erupted
and destroyed the nearby village of Tabacón.
Today, frequent explosions send cascades of redhot lava rocks tumbling down the western slope,
and during the day the lava flows steam and
rumble. At night, the sky is turned red by lava
spewing from the crater!
• Return to the hotel to prepare for the second
friendly game against a local club team
• Dinner at the hotel after the game

DAY 5: MONDAY 21st JULY, 2014
• Check out of the hotel and transfer to Ostional
• After breakfast check out and head west to
Paya Espadilla Sur, Dominical
the Pacific Coast and the remarkable
Guanacaste and The Gold Coast
• Guanacaste is home to several active
volcanoes and some beautiful national parks,
including Santa Rosa National Park, the
home to massive sea turtle nestings and the
site of a major battle to maintain
independence; Rincón de la Vieja National
Park, which features hot springs and bubbling
mud pots, pristine waterfalls, and an active
volcanic crater; and Palo Verde National
Park, a beautiful expanse of mangroves,
wetlands, and savannah
• Arrive in Guanacaste and check in to the
Flamingo Beach Resort for a 2 night stay
• Settle in to the hotel then enjoy the afternoon
relaxing on a nearby beach
• Dinner at the hotel this evening
Arribada at Ostional Beach
Beach for a chance to enjoy the remarkable
Turtle “Arribada” as hundreds of Olive Ridley
Turtles come ashore to lay their eggs
• From Ostional Beach return to San José and
check in to the Aloft Hotel for a 2 night stay
• Settle in to the hotel then transfer to the tour’s
fourth friendly game against a local San José
area club team
• Dinner at the hotel after the game
Note - if weather conditions don’t allow the turtle
activity, depart early for the capital and enjoy a
Guided Tour of San José - Chepe, as it’s called
by Ticos, is the most cosmopolitan capital in
Central America. The markets are vibrant, San
José is home numerous museums and there are a
few neighborhoods where colonial stylings still
radiate
DAY 8: THURSDAY 24th JULY, 2014
• After breakfast depart for a wonderful

on either Flamingo or Conchal Beach, or maybe
venture to visit one of the local National Parks
