BERNINI PALACE HOTEL (five stars) IN FLORENCE, THE LUXURY OF A ‘JOURNEY’ THROUGH HISTORY – PRESS KIT – Located in the very heart of Florence, the five star Bernini Palace hotel is sited in a historic Florentine building just behind Piazza della Signoria and the Uffizi Gallery. The atmosphere inside the hotel is ancient and evocative, from the impressive Parliament Hall recalling the glorious past of ancient Florence to the picturesque Tuscan style of the design, which perfectly merges with the modern style of the Lounge Bar and the lobby. Overlooking Palazzo Vecchio – at the centre of Florentine as well as Italian art and history – and just a stone’s throw from the Arno river, the Bernini Palace is now one of the most exclusive lounges of the city. Hosted in a XV century building, the Bernini Palace hotel stands at the very heart of Florence, behind Piazza della Signoria and the Uffizi Gallery, just a stone’s throw from Palazzo Vecchio, the Michelangelo’s statue of David and the Porcellino market. It was the first building in Florence to be equipped with running water and a stable. The hotel boasts the presence of two Concierges, belonging to the international association Les Clefs d’Or, who are ready to fulfil all the wishes of its guests. Formerly known as Hotel Parlamento, the Bernini Palace was the home and meeting place for many MPs of the time. There, the MPs continued their discussions after they went out of the Palazzo Vecchio or the Uffizi palace, which hosted the House of Deputies and the Senate of the old Kingdom of Italy. The large hall at the first floor now known as Sala delle Colazioni (‘Breakfast Hall’) was once called Buvette del Parlamento (Parliament’s Buvette). It is open to everyone, not just to the hotel guests. Its buffet offers a wide selection of homemade, organic and natural food, as well as baked products, and there is a dedicated area with gluten-free products. The Parliament hall is also available for private parties, special events and weddings. The Bernini Palace offers 74 rooms. They are all equipped with modern comforts, such as soft linen sheets, exclusive Simmons’ mattresses, anti-allergy duvets and soft, cotton satin duvet covers. The first floor is furnished in a picturesque Tuscan style, combining Renaissance and Oriental styles, with terracotta tile floors, warm-toned furnishings and textiles (red, amaranth, orange, gold), antique arrases, precious curtains and tapestries. All of them are unique pieces, which are in tone with the beamed ceilings and four-poster beds. All rooms overlook the inner yards, alleys and paths of Medieval Florence. The recently restored hotel’s restaurant La Chiostrina is located near the lobby, under a XVI century colonnade at the ground floor. Perfect for dinners, business meetings and light lunches, it is the right place to taste Tuscan typical cuisine and different kinds of dishes, thanks to a menu that changes according to the seasons. The Lounge Bar is an ideal haunt to drink a toast or arrange a romantic rendezvous. A professional barista and sommelier will serve you a wide range of cocktails and long drinks, including the Negroni, which was created in Florence by Count Camillo Negroni in 1919, and the Golden Martini, enriched with gold powder. At aperitif time, the drinks are paired with a selection of finger foods and cheeses. Open to the public from 10,30 a.m. till late night, the Lounge Bar is also an ideal location for gourmet after-dinner drinks, with a whiskey selection that includes about 50 fine blends. The Garden Terrace is located on Bernini’s rooftop. Surrounded by the history of Florence, it overlooks the Palazzo Vecchio and is equipped with gazebos, pavilions and a solarium, as well as a call bar service. Perfect for enjoying a meeting, a cocktail, an aperitif or, why not, a refreshing bath in the four-place Jacuzzi, which makes the terrace even more exclusive. The Bernini Palace hotel is also the right place to arrange small meetings, business sessions and conventions. It has a conference room, the Sala Corsini, for up to 45 people, which has been completely restored and shines with natural light. Many are the Hotel’s proposals for a true ‘Made in Italy’ holiday, including the Cena con le Stelle (‘dinner under the stars’): a romantic dinner at a winery in the Chianti region followed by a guided tour at the Chianti astronomical observatory to ‘spy’ the stars. For fashion-addicts, a walk through the most exclusive Florence’s boutiques and ateliers with a Personal shopper is available. The hotel also offers a shuttle service to and from The Mall, a luxury outlet where the most famous Italian and international fashion brands can be found. Last but not least, a wine-and-food tour from Florence to the Chianti region is being organized for Bernini’s gourmand clients, with visits to some selected wineries guided by a professional sommelier.
