P6 Spelling Homework Activities Here is a list of spelling activities to complete during Term 2. You must use your spelling words to complete one of the following activities each week. Be sure to try a different activity each week. It would be helpful if an adult at home could sign and dates, on the grid, the activity completed as some activities do not require evidence in your jotter. In addition to the activity you chose, you must also always complete the shaded activities (look, say, cover, write, check and sentences) every week. ​
This will give you plenty of practice when learning your new spelling words. LSCWC – Look at the word, say it out loud, cover the word up, write it down and check to see if you have spelled your word correctly. Sentences- Choose five of your spelling words. Write a sentence for each work. Each sentence must contain a connective. Spelling tennis​
– Ask someone at home to play spelling tennis with you. Take it in turns to spell each letter in each of your spelling words. Capitals​
– Write your words twice, first using lower case then in capital letters. Dictionary​
- Find the definition of your spelling words in a dictionary. Write the meaning of each word in your jotter. Scrabble spelling​
– Spell out each of your words using letter tiles from the game Scrabble. Add up the score of your words – which word is worth the most? Newspaper words​
– Cut out letters from headlines in an old newspaper or magazine and use these to spell your spelling words. Stick your words down in your jotter. Spelling Sentences​
- Use each spelling word correctly in a sentence. Computer spelling​
– Type your spelling words out on a computer. Can you make the words different colours, sizes and fonts? Back writing​
– Ask someone at home to work with you. Trace the letters of your words on their back. Can they guess the word you have written? 3 times​
- Write your words 3 times. First in pencil, then in pen, then using a colour of your choice. Alphabetical order​

– see how many times you can write each word correctly within a minute. Silly story​
– Try and write a silly story that contains all of your spelling words. Write your words in alphabetical order. Want to challenge yourself? Write your spelling words in reverse alphabetical order instead, from z – a. Noughts and Crosses​
- Ask someone at home to play with you. Take it in turns to give each other a word to spell. If you spell yours correctly, take a turn at noughts and crosses. If not, miss a turn. Play the game twice. Consonants​

– Ask someone at home to give you a spelling test in the style of a Spelling Bee. Bubble writing​
