Cusource® Employee Training
eClass (ILT)
Applied Consumer Lending
EMP-LVF-APBLE01-ILE
The eClass is comprised of three 90-120 minute independent pre-work sessions and three 90-minute
online group sessions. There is also a post session quiz that must be completed after Session 3.
Completing all eClass components is required to be credited with completing this course. (See page
2 for additional details.)
This eClass is designed for consumer lenders who have completed the CUIC® Consumer &
Residential Mortgage Lending course or who have completed comparable learning and /or have one
year of underwriting experience in retail credit.
Through reading, interactive discussions and carefully crafted case studies, participants will gain
valuable insights and confidence in applying lending concepts that utilize the 8 C’s of credit to the
real-life situations members present. While the focus is on developing lending skills, it is equally on
how to grow relationships so that members keep coming back for loans and other business.
This course will equip you to:

Apply the 8 Cs of credit to the initial credit analysis, decision making, and relationship with the
borrower.

Apply the 9 major components of the investigation process to achieve an efficient, effective,
and consistent approach to application for credit.

Examine the member’s financial and personal information on a consumer loan application in a
way that enables informed credit decisions.

Apply cross-selling techniques by identifying and positioning options for your members.

Identify the common risk factors that are currently used in risk-based pricing and their
importance to the member and the credit union.

Examine a consumer credit report so that you can make informed credit decisions based on
factual information related to how members repay their debt obligations.

Structure a loan to minimize risk to the loan portfolio.

Build stronger relationships with your members and increase market share for your credit
union.
What is an eClass?
Credit unions are asking for timely, relevant, cost-effective ways for their employees to learn. The
eClass provides a rich, interactive learning environment where employees can spread their learning
over several sessions while never leaving the office. Employees can continue their work duties while
taking a break to complete their course work, giving them the opportunity to consolidate, and apply
what they have learned.
Using case studies enables practical, skill-building that is applicable immediately back on the job.
