“I was shown how fragile life was on
Saturday. I saw the terror on bystanders'
faces. I saw the victims of a senseless
crime. I saw lives change. I was reminded
that we don't know when or where our time
on Earth will end. When or where we will
breathe our last breath.”
“I say all the time that every moment we
have to live our life is a blessing. So often
I have found myself taking it for granted.
Every hug from a family member. Every
laugh we share with friends. Even the
times of solitude are all blessings. Every
second of every day is a gift. After
Saturday evening, I know I truly
understand how blessed I am for each
second I am given.”
Matthew 16:26 “For what will it profit a man if
he gains the whole world and loses his soul?
Or what shall a man give in exchange for his
soul?”
Matthew 16:26 “For what will it profit a man if
he gains the whole world and loses his soul?
Or what shall a man give in exchange for his
soul?”
How Much is Your Soul Worth to You?
1 Timothy 5:6 “But she who gives herself to wanton
pleasure is dead even while she lives.”
1 Timothy 5:6 “But she who gives herself to wanton
pleasure is dead even while she lives.”
James 4:4 “You adulterous people, don’t you know
that friendship with the world is hatred toward God?
Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world
becomes an enemy of God.”

James 4:4 “You adulterous people, don’t you know

James 5:5 “You have lived luxuriously on the earth
and led a life of wanton pleasure. You have fattened
yourselves for the day of slaughter.”
2 Timothy 3:4-5 talks about people who are “lovers of
pleasure rather than lovers of God; holding to a form
of godliness, although they are denying its power.”
2 Timothy 3:4-5 talks about people who are “lovers of
pleasure rather than lovers of God; holding to a form

NLT: “They will act religious, but they reject the
power that could make them godly.”

pleasure rather than lovers of God; holding to a form

2 Timothy 2:22 “Flee from youthful lusts, and instead
follow after righteousness, faith, love, and peace,
along with those who call on the Lord from a pure
heart.”
Titus 2:12 says we should “deny ungodliness and
worldly desires, and instead we should live sensibly,
righteously, and godly in this present world.”
Titus 2:12 says we should “deny ungodliness and
worldly desires, and instead we should live sensibly,
righteously, and godly in this present world.”
Titus 3:3 “For we once were foolish ourselves,
disobedient, deceived, enslaved to various lusts and
pleasures, spending our life in evil and envy...”
Galatians 5:16 “Walk by the Spirit” and do not “carry
out the lusts/sinful desires of the flesh.”
Galatians 5:16 “Walk by the Spirit” and do not “carry
out the lusts/sinful desires of the flesh.”
Galatians 6:7-8 “Do not be deceived, God is not
mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also
reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh shall from
the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the
Spirit shall from the Spirit reap eternal life.”

1 Peter 2:11 “Beloved, I urge you as aliens and
strangers to abstain from fleshly lusts, which wage war
against the soul.”
1 Peter 4:1-3 “Therefore, since Christ has suffered in
the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same purpose,
because he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased
from sin, so as to live the rest of the time in the flesh no
longer for the lusts of men, but for the will of God. For
the time already past is sufficient for you to have
carried out the desire of the Gentiles, having pursued a
course of sensuality, lusts, drunkenness, carousing,
drinking parties and abominable idolatries.”
Hebrews 11:24-26 (NIV) “By faith Moses, when he
had grown up, refused to be known as the son of
Pharaoh’s daughter. He chose to be mistreated along
with the people of God rather than to enjoy the
pleasures of sin for a short time. He regarded disgrace
for the sake of Christ as of greater value than the
treasures of Egypt, because he was looking ahead to
his reward.”
Does this sound familiar?
 You’re just so busy!
 So wrapped up in day-to-day activities of life.
 Going to work, to school, to parent-teacher
meetings, to ballgames.
 Cleaning house, organizing garage, painting
bedroom, working on car, mowing yard.
 Visiting with family, going to the beach.
Luke 10:38-42 “Now as they were traveling along, He
entered a village; and a woman named Martha
welcomed Him into her home. She had a sister called
Mary, who was seated at the Lord’s feet, listening to His
word. But Martha was distracted with all her preparations; and she came up to Him and said, ‘Lord, do You
not care that my sister has left me to do all the serving
alone? Then tell her to help me.’ But the Lord
answered and said to her, ‘Martha, Martha, you are
worried and bothered about so many things; but only
one thing is necessary, for Mary has chosen the good
part, which shall not be taken away from her.’”
Many have great intentions…
 Making more time to spend with the Lord
 Gathering more with the church family
 Dedicating themselves to more spiritual things
 Spending more time in prayer and Bible reading
 Doing more in service to others
 Telling others about the gospel of Jesus Christ
1 John 2:15-17 (NLT) “Do not love this world nor the
things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do
not have the love of the Father in you. For the world
offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for
everything we see, and pride in our achievements and
possessions. These are not from the Father, but are
from this world. And this world is fading away, along
with everything that people crave. But anyone who
does what pleases God will live forever.
