• Held on February 4th 1945, the Allies meet in to
determine the consequences of aggression of the Axis
during the World War.

• The main participants:
– USSR: Joseph Staline
– Great-Britain: Winston Churchill
– U.S.A: Franklin D. Roosevelt

The Yalta Conference had three specific goals:
1. Find a common strategy to end the war as soon as possible
2. Determine what to do with Europe after the fall of the 3rd
Reich (Germany)
3. Ensure global stability after the end of the war

Major decisions:
• After its defeat, Germany would
be divided into 4 zones
– Each zone is occupied by
countries (USSR, UK, France
and the United States)
– Berlin was also divided into
four zones (erection of the
Berlin Wall)

militarism and Nazism
3. Moving of Poland to the
west, they would cede
territory to the USSR and
receive compensation in the
territories taken from
Germany

– Determines the
permanent members
