1. IONAS Project: Main Features
The Project IONAS aims at improving the cooperation
among ports and between ports and cities in the Adriatic
and Ionian area by:
- sharing experience in the implementation of INTERREG
projects
- facilitating the participation of partners from new
Member States and from new neighbouring countries in
Interreg programmes
- developing common actions in the fields of
transport&logistics and environment with a learning by doing
approach

Overall Objective
Improving the INTERREG Community performance and
promoting the involvement of new actors in the
INTERREG Community Initiative by:
- Dissemination of Know-how on Interreg project
management
- Assessment of needs and problems that New EU
members Partners and Neighbouring countries
Partners meet in participating in the Interreg
Community Initiative

Approach
The Ionas objectives will be pursued by applying a model of
learning by doing: the partners will work together for the
development of joint actions and tools in the fields of
transport&logistics and sustainable development, paying
attention to their needs in terms of active involvement within
the “Interreg Community”.

Awareness raising process on EMAS aimed at Adriatic and
Ionian Ports and Cities

- meeting of the Steering Committee
- meeting of the two Committees (parallel sessions)
- meeting of the Forum of Cities and Ports (plenary
session)
