This past weekend we focused on helping
young people develop their spiritual
character.
But also for this very reason, giving
all diligence, add to your faith virtue,
to virtue knowledge, to knowledge
self-control, to self-control perseverance, to
perseverance godliness, to godliness brotherly
kindness, and to brotherly kindness love.
For if these things are yours and abound, you
will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the
knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
2 Pet 1:5-8
This past weekend we focused on helping
young people develop their spiritual
character.
Young people need to be concerned
about their future.
Let no one despise your youth, but
be an example to the believers in
word, in conduct, in love, in spirit,
in faith, in purity.
1 Tim 4:12
But you must continue in the things
which you have learned and been
assured of, knowing from whom
you have learned them, and that from childhood
you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are
able to make you wise for salvation through faith
which is in Christ Jesus.

This past weekend we focused on helping
young people develop their spiritual
character.
Young people need to be concerned
about their future.
Timothy had a good reputation among the
brethren.
Then he (Paul) came to Derbe and
Lystra. And behold, a certain disciple
was there, named Timothy, the son
of a certain Jewish woman who believed, but his
father was Greek. He was well spoken of by the
brethren who were at Lystra and Iconium.
Acts 16:1-2
Those of us who are older (parents,
grandparents, others with influence)
need to be concerned with younger
disciples and their growth.
Helping younger disciples prepare
themselves is how local churches avoid
drifting away into apostasy.
They will be ready to replace the previous
generation.
2 Pet 1:5-8 isn’t just for young disciples...
it is for all disciples of all ages.
 We are all to possess strong spiritual
character.
 We are all supposed to try to be like our
Father and Savior.
…as He who called you is holy, you
also be holy in all your conduct,
because it is written,
“Be holy, for I am holy.”
1 Pet 1:16
For whom He foreknew, He also
predestined to be conformed to the
image of His Son, that He might be
the firstborn among many brethren.
Rom 8:29
We want to be like our Father & Redeemer.
We hope our spiritual character is growing
every day.
Our worship this morning will help us love
God more and do even more to become
like Him.
