Exposition of the Lesson

More than any other human
organization, our Church claims her
uniqueness through her four essential
marks. These marks are: The Church
being ONE, HOLY, CATHOLIC and
APOSTOLIC.
The Church being One
The church is One because her source is
the One Living God.( the Father,Son and
the Holy Spirit) also because of her
founder, Jesus Christ together with his
Apostles.
 Because of her Soul, the Holy Spirit.
“she is One in her confession of faith, in
divine worship and fraternal sharing”
from Acts. 2:42-47

The church being ONE simply means that all
baptized Christians are united with Christ.
We, as Catholics, are united in the
leadership of Pope and Bishops. We are
united in faith and in love with everyone as
well as the Lord. We celebrate our unity in
the Eucharist.
Jesus wants his disciples everywhere to be
ONE with everyone. This was also stated
in His prayer.
The Church being Holy
CHRIST, the founder, is present in the
Church. He communes with His Father
always. His prayers are always about
loving service to everyone.
 The Holy Spirit dwells in the Church. He
inspires us and gives us the courage in our
effort to be holy.
“Be holy, for I, the Lord your God, am
holy” Leviticus 19:2

The Church being CATHOLIC and
APOSTOLIC
Being Catholic
 The Church is universal so that means all
people in the world are welcome to the
church’s community. Everyone is to hear
the good news of Christ.
Being Apostolic
 Jesus Christ grounded the church
permanently on the foundation of the
Apostles
 The church continues to be guided by the
Apostles through their successors.
A short Summary of the Lesson




ONE,HOLY,CATHOLIC,APOSTOLIC are
the four essential marks of the Church.
Jesus wants His disciples to be one with
everybody.
The Church is Holy because of the
founder, Our Lord, is Holy.
The Church’s Community is encouraged
to live a life of holiness daily.
