YES ! – INTERREG projects are among the main tools of interregional cooperation – They create opportunities to participate in innovative undertakings and pilot projects (IS, research, e-learning, etc.) and to learn from more advanced partners Benefits from INTERREG projects 1. A large number of partners entails wide transfer of know-how and experience 2. The implementation of such projects helps identify future partners and potential cooperation topics – as part of the European Territorial Cooperation for 2007-2013 Reasons for Wielkopolska’s participation in EUROPLANE 1. Increased importance of regional airports following the congestion of European hubs – a development opportunity for Poznań – Ławica Airport 2. Access to modern simulation models and know-how developed in the two previous editions of the project (SEABIRD, SEAPLANE) 3. Cooperation and exchange of experiences with other regional airports in the EU Wielkopolska’s benefits from participation in EUROPLANE – Wielkopolska - the only Polish partner in the project – we can be active in this area, i.e. develop regional airports, influence regional growth – better promotion towards other Polish airports (success story: Poznań Airport Information Day), all regional media much more attentive and in favour of Poznań Airport – involvement in the network of EU-15 regional airports - passenger market potential analysis conducted for the first time for Poznań-Ławica Airport opportunity to identify new, potential flight connections Wielkopolska’s benefits from participation in EUROPLANE - Exchange of experiences and transfer of best practice as regards the strategic development of airports and management methods - New contacts with other UE regions, airlines, airports – creation of new possibilities for cooperation and promotion of regions, identification of solutions for interregional problems Poznań-Ławica Airport benefits from participation in EUROPLANE - econometric analysis and exchange of experiences within project – easier to face new development challenges - good cooperation between Wielkopolska Marshal Office and Poznań Ławica Airport, and also numerous contacts and exchanges during project implementation = “success story” of recent development of Poznań Airport Poznań-Ławica Airport benefits from participation in EUROPLANE - 5 out of 11 newly established routes have been indentified by econometrical analysis in the project; aprox. efficiency = 50% - Poznań Airport has been given general guidelines for the application for the EU funds (Ławica is about to receive aprox. 50mln EUR within next 7 years) EUROPLANE spin-offs 1. other Polish regional airports have become curious and would like to join such a wonderful project team 2. mathematical formulas have become „a piece of cake” since a number of Benedict Mandel's lectures were listened 3. not only mathematical formulas have become readable, but also the whole socio-econometric model is like an “ABC-Book” 4. thanks to EUROPLANE we have had the opportunity to see many beautiful places, even unforgetable Mont Blanc 5. the only thing we haven't explored enough until now is a quasi-component “social studies” ... EUROPLANE – Wielkopolska additional activities 1. During project implementation, Wielkopolska activity in „regional airports” working group (Assembly of European Regions) has significantly increased and, as a result of Poznań Airport Information Day – where AER actively participated - a follow-up Regional Airports Conference was organised in Poznań in September this year 2. Strong campaign in Polish media and lobbying in favour of Poznań Airport Thank you for your attention Contact: Department of Economy Marshal’s Office of the Wielkopolska Region e-mail: [email protected] e-mail: [email protected] http://www.umww.pl
