Heil Hitler!
In the midst of the Depression, people would listen
to anyone…even a mad man.
Why? What did Hitler offer?
• Work for the
unemployed
• Prosperity to the failed
business people
• Profits to industry
• Expansion to the army
• Social harmony
• Restoration of German
glory
• To bring order amid
chaos
• Promised unity and
hope
• Vowed to deal harshly
with the Jews
NAZIS GAIN POWER
(The National Socialist German Worker’s Party)
“Blood, blood…human blood.”
Hitler’s Target…The Jews
"Once I really am in power, my first and foremost task
will be the annihilation of the Jews. As soon as I have
the power to do so, I will have gallows built in rows - at
the Marienplatz in Munich, for example - as many as
traffic allows.
"Then the Jews will be hanged indiscriminately, and
they will remain hanging until they stink; they will hang
there as long as the principles of hygiene permit. As
soon as they have been untied, the next batch will be
strung up, and so on down the line, until the last Jew in
Munich has been exterminated.
Other cities will follow suit, precisely in this fashion,
until all Germany has been
completely cleansed of Jews."...and:
Once the hatred and the battle against
the Jews have been really stirred up,
their resistance will necessarily
crumble in the shortest possible time.
They are totally defenseless, and no
one will stand up to protect them.”
~ Adolf Hitler
Hitler’s Brain-Child…The Final Solution”
# 1 SEGREGATION
Jews were persecuted and forced
into isolation long before Hitler
came into power. Hitler used this
discrimination to his advantage and
forced them to live in ghettos
designed by him; the last stop
before deportation.
# 3 CONCENTRATION CAMPS
Jews were stripped of their hair, clothing,
name, and their dignity to break them for
the selection process.
Step 2 DEPORTATION
Jews had to leave their
homes, family, and
friends and travel to work
camps;better known as
concentration camps.
#4 SELECTION PROCESS
The Nazis decided who
would live to work and which
ones would die. Age, sex,
occupation, health, and luck
determined their fate.
RESULT: THE SYSTEMATIC DESTRUCTION OF JEWS
DEPORTATION and EVACUATION from the GHETTOS
The Most Horrific Event in History

Death Camps…
Some Survived the Holocaust.
ELIE WIESEL was a survivor.
Elie when he was 15 years old, his age when he was deported from his
home in Romania. Elie today, as an author and a lecturer. His goal is to
make people aware of the Holocaust; its victims and its survivors.
6 MILLION JEWS DIED
Gypsies, Catholics, Poles, Homosexuals,
and thousands of others were murdered,
because of discrimination and hate.
Lack of tolerance for those who are
different from us; man’s inhumanity
toward man is still occurring today.
Has History taught us nothing?
