The text : ( 15pts) ( 8pts) Man and Cosmos During the past three decades a limitless of space explorers have escaped the confines of planet Earth and have set out to discover our planetary neighbors thanks to satellites and telescopes. Hubble Space Telescope is the main of them .It was first scheduled for launch in 1986. But due the tragic loss of the shuttle Challenger in late January of that year, the launch was delayed four years. In April 1990, the Hubble telescope was lifted into orbit aboard the shuttle Discovery. It was put in orbit at an altitude of 610km.The telescope is very heavy; it weighs more than 11 tons. And by having a large telescope above Earth's atmosphere, astronomers are able to look at the universe. Astronomers in the latter half of the 20th century have made extraordinary discoveries, expanding our understanding of the universe and our vision beyond the visible portion of the electromagnetic spectrum. Humanity's knowledge of how the universe was born and how its many phenomena arise has grown; and learn about its components: sun, planets, asteroids, galaxies has been widened. They managed to discover the existence of the great variety of galaxy shapes and sizes and a diversity of starry systems, besides to most of the ambiguous heavenly bodies that their reality is still out of reach. Cosmos remains a giant challenge for man and a huge mystery that he may succeed to solve its issues one day.
