CURRICULUM VITAE LAST REVISED : June 2002 PERSONAL DETAILS NAME NATIONALITY : John Tracey : Irish CURRENT POSITION : Technical Consultant - In May 1999 I set up my own consultancy company, Hellion Software Ltd. . HOBBIES / INTERESTS I participate in many activities, mainly golf, swimming, walking and cycling. I also enjoy snowskiing and all watersports, especially sailing, snorkelling and scuba-diving (PADI Advanced Diver Certificate). To relax I like to read and listen to music. COMPUTING RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE January 2002 to present - Onsite with IBM customer installing IMS v7.1. This was a first install of IMS and is part of a bigger project to consolidate the customer database. The work involves installing and setting up test and production IMS sub-systems and knowledge transfer to the customer through documentation and workshops. September 2000 to November 2001 - Contract with IBM Ireland. This has involved working on-site with an IBM customer. Essentially brought in to aid the customers Euro conversion project, working with CICS. The project entailed setting up several CICS regions and handling all resource definitions. It also included setting up related 3rd party products. - I was also involved in the day-to-day technical support on their mainframe. This included the installation and customisation of the following products: CA-Librarian, FDR/ABR(Innovation Data Processing) and Connect:Direct (Sterling Commerce). - During this time the customer physically relocated their datacentre and I was part of the Technical team involved in this project from the mainframe side. August 2000 to September 2000 - 5 week contract on-site with Bank of Ireland. This was a short-term storage management project. Involved use of DFSMS and skills transfer to Bank staff. June 1999 to July 2000 - Contract with IBM Germany in Mainz, Germany. Work involved build and administration of a test OS/390 Sysplex for an IBM customer in Germany. This is an ongoing project involving regular upgrades to OS/390 (at the time v2.8) and its subsystems (IMS, CICS, DB2), also ISV products from BMC and Compuware. - There is a period of intense testing before each delivery, typically 4-6 weeks. I had responsibility for IMS and associated ISV products during these test periods. This included the install and applying any required PTF’s. - I visited the customer site and had ongoing contact with their IMS programmer. October 1997 to May 1999 - Amdahl Ireland Ltd. Dublin - Joined OS/390 team providing technical support to Amdahl Software Ltd, developers of ObjectStar. - Key role in team that migrated Amdahl Software Ltd Datacentre from Toronto to Dublin. The project involved two weeks onsite preparation in Toronto followed by setting up the infrastructure in Dublin and the migration of all data and support functions. The project was completed on schedule with minimal impact to users. - After the migration I established and developed the storage management environment and procedures to the customers requirements. This involved extensive use of DFSMS. - I have been involved in the testing of new releases of Amdahl’s TDMF data migration product. I have given presentations on it to personnel from Amdahl’s European sellers and have provided training to Amdahl Site Engineers. - I have joined a team of technical consultants within Amdahl to provide onsite consultancy. Since October 1998 I am onsite with the Irish Electricity Supply Board, providing Y2K infrastructure test planning and remediation of non-compliant software. - I have successfully completed an Open University course in The Management of Professional Services. BANK OF IRELAND GROUP July 1996 to September 1997 - Technical Support Group - Database Systems Management Duties included - Maintain the subsystems used to provide On-line Service: principally IMS, CICS and DB2. - Install system software as needed and apply fixes to these Subsystems when required. - Responsible for the planning and migration from CICS v2.1.2 to CICS/ESA v4.1 . Including - liaising with projects to organise testing and sign off upgrade. - Analysis and resolution of any problems in these subsystems. - Provide support to IMS, CICS and DB2 users. - Provide on-call support when required. July 1994 to July 1996 - Technical Support Group - MVS Systems Management Duties included - Installation , testing and support of Systems Software products and providing clear documentation on each install. SMP/E and non-SMP/E. - Providing support for all system users. - Responsible for all system IOCDS generations. Built new IOCDS gen for IBM 9672 R83. - Installed HCD (Hardware Configuration Definition) and used it effectively to migrate from IOCDS to IODF. - Preparation of Monthly change IPL and system cloning. - Assisting in Hotsite Recovery testing in the U.K. - Liaising with software vendors to resolve any problems encountered in System software. - Developing procedures for new products and ensuring currency of procedures following product upgrades. - System performance monitoring and report criteria set-up. - Training other staff where appropriate. . Oct 1989 to July 1994 - Command Centre - Shift work Duties included - Monitoring and maintaining the Bank of Ireland Mainframe and On-line Service. - Scheduling workload to ensure that all Service Level Agreements and Production deadlines were met. - Problem identification and resolution and ensuring no recurrence through putting effective controls in place. - Preparation and updating of operating procedures. - Communicating with other areas within ITD, namely TSG, Data Distribution and Applications programmers . - Actioning Mainframe IPL's and other System Software slots. - Training other staff. - Deputising for shift leader and weekend team leader.
