OBJECTIVE: The student will be able to:

DEFINE, CONTRAST, AND COMPARE between atoms/ions and their electron configurations/ the octet rule AND OXIDATION NUMBERS

LESSON FORMAT: DISCUSSION, MODELING, and GUIDED PRACTICE

ASSIGNMENT: Electron Configurations 1-54/ BOX IN THE VALENCE ELECTRONS

ASSIGNMENT: Chemistry terms and key notes in chapter 5 which should be on page 31-32 of your notebook.

EVALUATION: Write Atomic Mass, Mass Number, Atomic Number, and Isotopes on the Periodic Table

CURRICULUM BENCHMARKS:
5.6
THE STUDENT WILL WRITE AN ATOM’S ELECTRON CONFIGURATION RELATING IT TO ITS POSITION ON THE PERIODIC TABLE.
[P.12.A.2]
5.7
THE STUDENT WILL RELATE THE PERIODIC LAW TO THE POSITIONS OF ELEMENTS ON THE PERIODIC TABLE. [P.12.A.2]
5.13 THE STUDENT WILL PREDICT THE VALENCE ORBITALS FILLED IN THE EIGHT MAIN GROUPS (REPRESENTATIVE ELEMENTS).
