Choose any of the following options-You are required to do 30 points worth of assignments
each week for spelling homework. The goal of doing these assignments is to become
familiar with how to spell your spelling words; therefore it is important that all of your
words are spelled correctly on each activity. Your spelling assignments are due Thursday.
Spelling tests will be given Friday morning.
5 Point Assignments
-Write your spelling words in ABC order
-Write your spelling words 5X each
-Write each spelling word. Then make at least two new words of at least 3 letters that can
be made with the letters in your original spelling word
-Write each spelling word and draw a picture or icon to demonstrate the meaning of the
word
10 Point Assignments
-Write a letter to a friend, in proper format, including 8 spelling words (must make sense)
-Write a sentence using each of your spelling words (the sentences must demonstrate an
understanding of the meaning of the word)
-Have someone give you a practice test on your spelling words
-Rainbow write each of your spelling words (write each word 4 times in a different color each time)
-Cut your spelling words out of newspaper or magazine letters and glue them onto a page to
create a collage of spelling words
-Use a thesaurus or dictionary to write at least 2 synonyms for each spelling word
15 Point Assignments
-Connect your word to another words (acceptable connections include rhyming, consonant clusters,
vowel patters, similar prefix/suffix)
-Write a poem or song using at least 8 spelling words (must make sense)
-Create a cartoon strip using at least 8 spelling words (must have a plot)
-Cut a picture out of a newspaper or magazine and use spelling words to write a story about
the picture
-Write your spelling words in code (must include the legend with the words)
-Write each of your words as part of an analogy
