My Personal Development Plan
Part 1
The results from the Jungs personality test showed that I am of an introvert personality. A person
who is an introvert has a source of energy mainly in their own internal world. (Jungs) to my
understanding an introvert is someone who is intrinsically motivated. According to Jung’s
personality test type, the dichotomies for an introvert is made up within the realms of these four
letters. (INTJ) to get a better understanding of these dichotomies of this personality type he gave
the meaning of each, which will be discussed further.
Firstly, the ( I ) stand for Introvert and this he describes that, this individual receives their
source of energy from the internal world. Furthermore an introvert will look and depend on
information from within. The hidden ideas and egos push the individual to bring them to
maturity. This now lead us to the second dichotomy (N) which means intuition. Jung gave this
definition to a person who mainly believes information he/she receives internally. Thirdly (T) is
use to represent thinking. As an introvert, thinking plays an integral part in one’s life and the
decisions that are made must be done through logic. The fourth dichotomy is (J) which means
judging. Upon analyzing the meaning that was given, it showed that this individual organizes all
of life’s event and as a rule stick to them. Furthermore I will agree with this definition. Being an
introvert I am also an active participant in planning and organizing goals or events for the near
future. As time passes, each goal that I have achieve I erase them from my previous list and
work more in order to achieve the ones that are still outstanding. In addition I believe the
introvert will think business first. The pleasure comes after. And so this individual will seek to
achieve his/her goal in spite of the odds or challenges that may arise.
How does my Personality affect my study habits?
Looking at my personality type and my study habit, it would appear that they work hand in hand.
The reason is because of the fact that introverts have to do a lot of critical thinking and analysis
of topics before we can actually make a meaningful contribution, it stands to reason that we need
a quiet atmosphere in which we are able to work. The noise can be very disrupting making it
impossible for anyone to concentrate. In addition there are times when introverts prefer to work
independently. This however can be rewarding as well as not rewarding at times. It is a fact that
sometimes we learn more from other members in the group. An introvert seldom will give an
answer and may at times be looked upon as being empty headed.
This individual will answer only if there are confident that they have the right response.
Furthermore from my point of view there are times when particular topics have being looked at
and in order for me to get a better understanding, I have to go home and reread the materials over
and over again and especially if it is materials that I am not familiar with, it takes quite a longer
time. At times it does make me feel inferior because everyone around me is participating and I
am not, but I must be certain of the facts before I can give an answer.
Working in groups allows me to plan and organize my materials carefully to make a meaningful
contribution. The characteristics of an introvert will allow him/her to become an active
participant in the group. These are also valuable tools that they will bring to their group. They
will also be better able to give their ideas and input that might not have been revealed during
regular class. At one instance I was a part of a group and I was given a specific topic to present
on. I think many persons judged me in that they were fearful that I would not be able to do it.
The presentation went very well and they instantly changed their perception about me. The next
time around everyone wanted me to become a part of their group. It is my belief that if more
individuals patronize some of the habits of the introverts they would be less stressed. This does
not mean that as introverts we will not encounter challenging situations but finding out ways to
deal with them will alleviate the pressures sometimes. It does affect my study habits but it will
not stop me from achieving.
In addition many relationships are broken because they fail to plan and organize their events.
Family members at time fail to succeed because they fail to plan. Also one must be very
confident of him/her self that if at first you try and fail you should not give up. There are times
when you might be laughed at and even scorned but the ego inside should motivate you to move
on. Most marriages today fail because each partner has a different personality that might not be
easy to understand. In some instances the partners are not aware of their own personality type.
Each partner at times is misunderstood by the other. In religion it can be quite a task as there are
some different beliefs and concepts when choosing a partner. Some believe in dating before
marriage, some do not. There are instances that you meet and get married in six months without
even living a day with the individual. After the marriage the hidden pictures starts appearing one
by one. And the worst part is that you cannot divorce as this is going against the plan that God
has ordained for marriage.
Finally I think that individuals should try to live a balance life whether spiritual and depend on
God to take them through. We all are seeking to accomplish my things in this life but it all
depending on God. I must however seek to be more sympathetic to my neighbours rather than
being judgmental.
