Fascism
An authoritarian and nationalistic right-wing system of government and
social organisation.
Generally – fascism tends to believe in the supremacy of one national or
ethnic group, hold contempt for democracy, insist on obedience to one,
powerful leader and have a strong demagogic approach
Forcing strict obedience to authority, especially of the government, at the
expense of personal freedoms.
1. a person who advocates political independence for a country, or
2. a person with strong patriotic feelings – a person who believes in the
superiority of their country over all others.
The conservative side of a political party or system. (NZ’s National Party
tends to believe to the mild-right)
A political leader who seeks support by appealing to popular desires (money,
freedom, etc) and prejudices (nazism, etc) rather than by using rational
argument.
Expressing devotion and vigorous support for one’s country.
Holding to traditional values and attitudes – cautious about change or
innovation.
The liberal, socialist or radical side of a political party or system (NZ’s Labour
party tends to believe to the mild-left)
A political (and economic) theory of social organisation that believes that
production, distribution and exchange should be owned and/or regulated by
the community as a whole.
The Spanish Fascist movement which merged with other right-wing elements
(army control) in 1937 to form the ruling party; the Falange Espanola
Tradicionalista under General Franco
Spanish head of state from 1939 to 1975. Leader of the nationalists in the
Spanish Civil War who became the head of the Falange Party in 1937 and
proclaimed himself leader of Spain. He established a dictatorship until his
death (1975).
