1 Revised July 2010 WALKER COUNTY SCHOOL SYSTEM: PROGRAM OF STUDY – GEOMETRY B CURRICULUM GUIDE Purpose: This curriculum guide is a framework for standardized testing alignment and documentation of instruction. It contains a suggested sequencing guide. It is not inclusive of all possible instruction. Content standards are minimum; they are fundamental, but not exhaustive. This documentation should be submitted to the principal at the end of each school year and maintained in the school office for future reference. A student roll should be attached before submitting. Recommendations: Before addressing standards/objectives, verify (via informal or formal pre-test) that students understand the appropriate prerequisite skills. Any needed intervention/reteaching should be conducted before teaching the standards/objectives. A “pre-teach” before the primary introduction of the standard/objective is an excellent strategy in assisting children to learn the desired standard/objective. Teachers and school administrators should become familiar with the specifications of the AHSGE. Any needed intervention and/or additional support (e.g., special education; Tier II and III) should be aligned to the regular classroom teacher’s lessons that specify standards/objectives. 3 AHSGE Objectives I-1 I-2 1-3 1-4 II-1 II-2 II-3 II-4 III-1 III-2 IV-1 IV-2 V-1,4 V-2 V-3 VI-1 VII-1 VII-2 VII-3 VII-4 VII-5 VII-6 VII-7 VII-8 TOTAL Apply order of operations Add and subtract polynomials Multiply polynomials Factor polynomials Solve multi-step equations Solve quadratic equations Solve systems of linear equations Solve multi-step inequalities Identify functions Find the range of functions Find perimeter, circumference, area, volume Find the distance, midpoint, slope Graph: Linear Equations; Common Relations Graph lines given certain conditions Determine solution sets of inequalities Translate: Verbal or Symbolic Graph: Equations or Inequalities Apply properties and relationships between angles Apply Pythagorean Theorem Apply properties of similar polygons Apply properties of geometric figures Determine measures of central tendency Determine probabilities Solve problems: Direct Variation Solve problems: Algebraic Concepts Number of Items 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 6 4 4 6 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 4 100
