Make sure to spell ALL words correctly on each activity. A grade will be given that corresponds to the amount of “Spelling Rule” activities you complete. A maximum of 20 points will earn you an “A” for the weekly grade in Spelling. Last Name, First How to earn 20 points: Four 5 point assignments or two 10 point assignments or Date one 10 point assignment and two 5 point assignments. You may only complete 20 points worth of assignments for any one contract. (picture) Staple all of the activities together with a neatly designed cover sheet that includes the following: Spelling Rule (title ex. “Short A Sound”), your name, date, creative Table of Contents picture related to words). On the bottom of the cover sheet will be the table of Activity 1: _________ contents listing the activities you chose. You will receive a 5 point deduction if Activity 2: _________ Act. 3 (if needed):_____ either part is missing. Only use Spelling Words (not vocabulary) assigned for that Act. 4 (if needed):_____ week when completing assignments. All contract work is due EVERY Friday morning. Late spelling homework will not be accepted for credit. This homework is meant to help you study for your test on Fridays. Do NOT wait until Thursday night to do all of your activities. Waiting will not benefit your learning. 5 Point Assignment Choices Divide each word into syllables (Use your dictionary to check the division) Draw a detailed picture of each spelling word (write the word under the picture) Write the synonym and antonym of each spelling word (make a chart: word/syn./ant.) Classify the words according to part of speech (create a chart with headings) Write two rhyming words for each spelling word (chart: word/rhyme #1/rhyme #2) Write out each spelling word. Underneath each word, create an addition sentence to add up the consonants and vowels. Consonants are worth 10 pts, vowels are 5 pts. (Example: student = 10 +10 +5 +10 +5 + 10 +10 = 60) 10 Point Assignment Choices Write 3 interrogative, 3 declarative, 3 exclamatory, and 3 imperative sentences using each spelling word once. (12 sentences total.) Sentences must show clear understanding of the word’s meaning. (Underline the spelling word in the sentence.) Write an interesting story (10 + sentences) using all the spelling words. (Underline the sp. words.) Make and complete a Cross Word puzzle on www.puzzlemaker.com with all of your words. Clues must clearly represent the word. Puzzle option: Criss-Cross (Crossword) Write riddles for each of your spelling words. Include the answer at the end of each riddle. (Ex. I cry when I’m hungry. I wear a bib when I eat. My speech is not always clear to those around me. What am I? BABY)
