different kinds of forms I can develop in
Visual Basic? What are the basic controls
used within VB? How can I design and view the

Key Unit Focuses:
Visual Basic is a "programming language and
development environment created by
Microsoft. It is an extension of the
BASIC programming language that combines
BASIC functions and commands with visual
controls. Visual Basic provides a graphical user
interface GUI that allows the developer to
drag and drop objects into the program as
well as manually write program code."

Unit Question:
Project Plan: What is the purpose of a project
plan? What are the key components that make
up a project plan?
Design Components: What digital tools can be
used to promote the event?
Test Buddy Feedback: How well have you met
the assessment objectives?
Key Unit Focuses:
The students undertake a project to organise a
car boot sale. They have to make sure that the
event runs successfully there are a number of
tasks that you need to complete. They use a
variety of programs to complete these tasks.

Students understand the fundamentals of VB
and are able to create a basic form.
Students are able to identify different
objects that can be placed on the form.
Students are able to introduce new concepts
of variables and sub procedures.
Students are able to introduce decisions
within the code, using an IF Statement.
Students are able to understand the basic
structure of a Case Block and why it is
sometimes used instead of an IF Statement.
Students will need to set up an appropriate
folder structure.
Students will need to complete a sources table
with details of the assets/images they have
used.
Students will need to create a series of digital
products including a digital advert; animated
banner and an interactive e-newsletter to
promote the event.
Students will need to ensure they have
regularly recorded and reflected on feedback
they have received from their peers and
teachers.
