Dear Mr. President:
I am a seventh grader that goes to Edison Elementary. I’ve been researching on where
earthquakes are located and how to locate them. I have some info on all that stuff. I’ll tell you about what
causes earthquakes and whether you could predict where other earthquakes happen. And the difference
between earthquakes and volcanoes.
The places were the most recent earthquakes are occurring and were they are mostly likely to
occur in certain locations. Earthquakes are most likely to occur along the west coast down by
California, because there closer to the fault lines and the earth’s crust. They are also likely to occur
around Australia because there also probably around the plates and fault lines. There is more
information coming up.
There is a way to predict which areas are most prone to earthquakes. The ways are where
ever there is a volcano ready to erupt than there will be an earthquake before it erupts. Also how close
the place is to a fault line. That’s how I think we could predict were the parts of the world are most
prone to earthquakes.
The relationship between an earthquake and a volcano is that an earthquake happens around
the volcano. Where a volcano is there is usually a plate or a fault line. That’s how they are related
between the two an earthquake and a volcano.
The thing that is causing earthquakes is when two plates collide along a fault line. Also when
another earthquake happens after a big earthquake and that is called a aftershock, which is usually
smaller then the first one. Sometimes the second one does more damage than the first main one.
That’s all the information I got to tell you.
You should be able to tell what we are being taught in schools. Also you could do something
with this information that I told you.
