Context
The Red Cross is the largest voluntary humanitarian organisation in the world. It
promotes humanitarian values and provides emergency help to people in short-term crisis
in the UK and overseas. Within the UK, the British Red Cross (BRCS) operates through
50,000 volunteers and 3,000 staff.
Our success in making a difference to the communities in which we operate is dependent
on the quality, availability and delivery of aid to those in crisis. Services are delivered by
teams comprising Operation Managers, Service Managers and Service Coordinators.
We seek to ensure that our organisation and our services are relevant and
accessible to all. We value fresh perspective and insight gained by involving and
welcoming people from the widest possible diversity of background, culture and
experience.
Scope
The post holder will coordinate the Bristol and South Gloucestershire Home from Hospital
Services. The Home from Hospital services provide light touch practical and emotional
support to individuals following a hospital stay. Support is provided for approximately six
weeks by local Red Cross volunteers and a small team of paid staff. The scheme is
service user focused, helping to build confidence and to rebuild and sustain levels of
independence.
Overall Purpose of the Post
To provide the coordination and supervision of the Home from Hospital Services in Bristol
and South Gloucestershire. It involves working directly with health and social care
professionals and volunteers to ensure a high standard of service delivery for service
