40 DAYS OF CONSECRATION
PRAYER AND FASTING DOCUMENT
Greater Vision Worship Center
”We’d like to thank each member of our GVWC family for your willingness to
participate in this divine order from the Lord. Please be reminded that this
fasting and prayer consecration is by divine assignment and is going to
spiritually revolutionize our lives. The Lord has called us to Himself that He
may instruct us in righteousness and reveal to us what His will is for our lives
during this time of great harvest and outpouring of His spirit. Stay under His
instructions and remain sensitive to His spirit as we embark upon “a great
move of God”. May God richly bless each of you.
Bishop Michael & Janice Roseboro, Pastors

Fasting Overview:
The Daniel Fast is a partial fast, which means that you will eliminate some common
things from your daily diet, but will have generous options available. You will focus on
eating fruits and vegetables that are pure and simple. We have included a list of foods to
eat and to avoid.
*If you have any known medical conditions or suspect such conditions, consult your
doctor before beginning the fast1.
The 40 days of consecration is 40 days of a combination of 10-day cycles of various
levels of food sacrifices. A chart is included on page 6, reflecting the restrictions.
What:
Daniel Fast will take 21 days. If you are planning to continue the complete 40 days of
fasting, at the end of the Daniel fast you will join the 40 days of fasting at the appropriate
point. This will require you to fast an additional 19 days. Please see chart to find out
where you are in the forty days of consecration chart.
This will be a challenging process, but we look forward to seeing what God does in our
church and in our lives.
Who will be fasting?
The entire GVWC Church will be participating in this ordained fast (exceptions: those
who are ill or those who prefer not to participate). We are inviting any of our special
guests, friends and family, who are saved, and would like to join us to feel free to
participate.
When:
Sunday, March 9nd at 6am: Begins each scheduled fast.
Sunday, April 17th at 6 pm: Break the Fast!

Elevation Church
Purpose of Fasting and praying:
 To become closer to God by bringing your body under subjection to Holy Ghost.
(I Cor. 9:27)
 To deny the demands of your flesh.
 To increase your prayer life.
 To study the scriptures with a new intensity.
 To seek the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding (Col.
1:9)
Results of Fasting:
 New spiritual strength over the things that once controlled your life
 Closer relationship with God
 Strength for service in the kingdom
 Harvest minded
Biblical models:
 Daniel chapters 2 and 10 -Examples of personal fasting and results
 Isaiah chapter 58- God's chosen fast.
 Matthew chapter 4 - Jesus fasted
Fasting levels:
 If you fast often you may need to increase your fasting time beyond what you are
accustomed. Once the body is conditioned to fasting the level of sacrifice may
need to be increased.
 If this is your first fast, the forty days may be difficult for you. But the sacrifices
you make during fasting will help bring your flesh under subjection to the Spirit.
Accountability:
 Make yourself accountable to at least one other person during this fast. This will
help both of you to endure the fasting process.
 Encourage one another.
Restrictions During Fasting and Prayer:
 No television, except Christian broadcasting and news
 Avoid joking and jesting as much as possible
5
But thou, when thou fastest,
anoint thine head, and wash
thy face; That thou appear
not unto men to fast, but
unto thy Father which is in
secret: and thy Father,
which seeth in secret, shall
reward thee openly.
-Matthew 6:17-18

Daniel Fast
Types of food included in the Daniel fast:
Vegetables, preferably fresh or frozen pure fruit juices or fruit (no sweetened
drinks or sweetened fruit): apple juice, orange juice, grapefruit juice, or cranberry
juice.
It is advisable to take vitamin, mineral, and possibly protein supplements during the
fast. You may also include various nuts to serve as a protein supplement.
Foods not included in the Daniel fast:
Sugar and sugar products (desserts, soft drinks, etc.)
Drinks including caffeine (coffee, tea, etc.)
Bread, grains, and rice
Meats, fish, poultry, dairy products, eggs
7
Water: Drink at least 8 glasses of water daily during the fast. This is very important.
Side effects: You may experience moderate to severe headaches for the first day or two
as your body rids itself of caffeine, salt, sugar, and various impurities.
Important exceptions:
 Anyone with a medical condition related to eating or under the treatment of a
physician must consult his or her doctor.
 Children, especially small children, will have special needs that must be
considered. Under these conditions, find some sacrifice in the area of food that
can be made without endangering health.
 If you have extreme difficulty with the fast, such as impairment of your ability to
work at your job, you will have to make adjustments. This is not a failure of will,
but is wisdom2. Seek the Lord and discuss it with your Pastors to find alternatives.

FAQ’s
What about prepared foods?
Read the labels of all prepared foods. Remember the Daniel Fast is sugar-free and
chemical-free. So, if you use any canned fruits, vegetables, packaged foods, or prepared
sauces you must read the label to be aware of the ingredients.
What about pasta?
12
Make sure the label says whole grain pasta with no additives (watch for sugar). Whole
grain pasta offers 7 grams of protein per serving (3/4 cup of dried pasta).
I know it says raw, unsalted nuts, but what about roasted nuts?
The goal would be to stick to raw, unsalted nuts. But these are harder to find so in a pinch
just make sure you get plain roasted, unsalted nuts with no preservatives.
How do I get enough protein in my diet while on the fast?
The following are protein-rich foods that are allowed on the Daniel Fast… almonds,
sunflower seeds, lentils, quinoa, brown rice, split peas, whole grains, and tofu.
What kind of peanut butter is allowed?
A natural peanut butter with no additives…watch for sugars including molasses.
Smucker’s creamy natural peanut butter has nothing but peanuts in it.
What about popcorn?
Corn is listed in the list of vegetables to eat list. You can use a pot on the stove…here is a
recipe.
1) Put two tbsp. of olive oil in the bottom of a large pot.
2) Add enough popcorn to cover the bottom of the pan.
3) Turn heat to medium high. Look for the first popcorn kernel to pop.
4) Put the lid on the pot. Using potholders shake the pot over the burner.
5) Continue shaking until you no longer hear kernels popping. Remove from heat.
How can I identify whole grain foods?
Typically if the ingredient lists "whole wheat", "rolled oats", or "whole corn" as the first
ingredient, the product is a whole grain food item. Another way to identify whole grains
in the foods you eat is to look in the nutritional facts information and check if the food
item contains dietary fiber. If it contains a significant amount, it most likely contains
whole grains. "Wheat flour" is not a whole grain and therefore does not indicate a whole
grain product.
What about salad dressing?
Olive oil and lemon or lime is an option.
Do I need to eat organic foods while on the fast?
No, but it is suggested because organic foods are produced without the use of feed or
fertilizer of plant or animal origin and without employment of chemically formulated
fertilizers, growth stimulants, antibiotics, or pesticides.
Where can I go out to eat?
Well, we think you can go anywhere and order cautiously, asking lots of questions to the
wait staff, knowing ahead of time that you may be ordering a salad with olive oil and a
13
baked potato with no extras.
What about bread?
We are recommending the Ezekiel bread found in the freezer section of your
grocery/health food store.
How much can I eat?
As long as they are included in the list of foods, we recommend eating until satisfied
within the time restraints.
Should I avoid canned foods?
Yes, as much as possible due to the high sodium content. If available, sodium free or low
sodium canned products and frozen foods are an alternative.
